You said maybe 15-20 minutes to go 'Don't be surprised if Porto get a goal,' and it comes out of nothing.

Gabriel Martinelli attempts a diagonal to Bukayo Saka, gets nowhere near it. It comes out to Galeno, steps inside and no one gets close enough to him.

He hits a perfect, beautiful curling shot and it flies way above and beyond David Raya into the back of the net.

The ultimate smash and grab, but Porto won't care. That is Champions League football.

Galeno's late wonder goal is the difference and means Porto only need a draw at Emirates Stadium on 12 March to get into the quarter-finals.

Arsenal go the whole match without having a shot on target. They need to do much, much better in the rematch.

A moment of absolute brilliance in the third minute of injury time.

Arsenal give the ball away, but no-one could expect what's coming next. Galeno takes a few touches to set himself and then from range curls a truly wonderful finish on the right foot past David Raya at full stretch.

    Napoli 1-1 Barcelona

All level going into the second leg in Spain on 12 March. Two of the great strikers in world football on the scoresheet. Robert Lewandowski for Barcelona, before Victor Osimhen equalises to set it up nicely.

Ilkay Gundogan almost wins it for Barcelona in injury time but can only hit the side netting.

Is it me or since Uefa changed the away goal rule they have ruined first legs? 0-0's and tight no risk affairs are the norm again

This has been one of the most boring games of football I've ever watched. I wonder if Arsenal are just fully focused on the league.

Safe to say Arsenal won't be winning the Champions League this season with this kind of performance.

Can Arsenal get a late winner to turn a good result into a superb result? Nine corners from them, but still nothing on target.

Hard to believe Porto are at home. Constantly niggling, time wasting and generally playing like a team of 11 Pepes. A UCL knockout match deserves better.

    Craig

Rob: I understand why Porto wouldn’t want to be out of the tie in the first leg but they really are approaching this game like they’re massive underdogs.

I think given how tight this match has been both managers will be happy with the scoreline. Very tight, not many chances, a tactical battle.

Given they are the favourites in the tie Arsenal may want to try and force things a bit more heading into the final few minutes to get that advantage going back to the Emirates.

But this is cup football, you have to play over two legs and stay in it, Arsenal will be delighted if it ends 0-0.

Francisco Conceicao manages to dig out a cross from the right for Porto, but David Raya does well with some assured goalkeeping by coming off his line and collecting it in decisive fashion.

    Napoli 1-1 Barcelona

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has scored six goals in his last six games at the Diego Armando Maradona in the Champions League.

Since the start of last season, the only players to score more goals at a specific venue in the competition are Erling Haaland at the Etihad (12) and Kylian Mbappe at the Parc des Princes (nine).

No shots on target yet. Nketiah has to come on and offer some more potency.

    Dec

Lacklustre from Arsenal. Just don't look at the races but that's most likely down to tactics. Going 'not to lose' rather than 'going to win'. They'll be planning on home advantage in last game to go for it..

Victor Osimhen, in his first club game of 2024 after helping Nigeria reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, makes it 1-1.

He is played the ball and with his back to goal has enough strength and skill to spin, turn, leave his marker on the floor and send Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen the wrong way with the strike.

    Porto 0-0 Arsenal

Jakub Kiwior hits a pass over the top for Kai Havertz to chase on to, but Diogo Costa has a good starting position and can get there first.

It's just not clicked for Arsenal, but a draw away from home in the last 16 would still be a very decent night's work.

I don't think Mikel Arteta needs to make a substitution just yet, with 25-30 minutes still left to play of the game.

But Leandro Trossard has been on the periphery of the game in this second half, and he missed the best chance his side have had too.
