Away from the Scottish Cup, there's a huge game in the second tier today.

Dunfermline Athletic and Queen's Park, split by just one place and one point, go head-to-head at East End Park.

A win for Callum Davidson's visitors will see them leap out of the relegation play-off spot and move level on points with Ayr in sixth.

Seems the travelling Bonnyrigg support have already got their hands on the Scottish Cup, kinda...

Hibs boss Nick Montgomery never crossed paths with Duncan Ferguson in his playing days, but he will "try to avoid any confrontation" with his Caley Thistle counterpart in the dugout this afternoon.

"I'd have no problems on the pitch, but he's a big guy," Montgomery jokes with BBC Scotland's Brian McLauchlin.

The Hibs boss describes today's opponents as "a decent side" but thinks his own players are up for avoiding "a rude awakening" similar to Motherwell in Greenock last night.

Montgomery says they "took a lot of positives" despite a midweek loss to Celtic he believes they did not deserve and is looking forward to the introduction of some more new players and having "a really strong bench and competition for places".

Inverness boss Duncan Ferguson, an FA Cup winner with Everton, tells BBC Scotland: "I never won the Scottish Cup as a player, but I'd love to go all the way with Caley Thistle."

Ferguson is "really excited" to see how his young side, with an average age of 23, can handle "one of the big boys of Scottish football".

"They are going to be the favourites, but we are at home and hopefully we can deal with the conditions better than them."

Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: "We've not prepared any different than we would for a Premiership fixture.

"I've said it umpteen times, there's not much between bottom half of the Premiership and top half of the Championship, so we treat it with the respect it deserves.

"That's been the story for the last couple of months - creating good chances, lose first goal, and we don't take our chances.

"Kilmarnock we were better offensively last week, but we need to take more care and responsibility and make better decisions in the final third."

Cove Rangers manager Paul Hartley tells BBC Scotland: "It's a difficult fixture for us. Kilmarnock are flying high in the Premiership.

"Their home form has been terrific, but you never know in the cup - sometimes there's a shock. We'll need to perform really well if we're to get a result.

"The recruitment's been really good. I look at their bench today, the quality they've got in their frontline is really high.

"We have to maybe carry a wee bit of luck, we might need a wee bit of magic."

I caught up with the big Rose striker earlier this week and while he may be Mr McGachie to his high school students, he's very much Mr Bonnyrigg out and about town.

He get's a bit of stick from time to time, but he's game for it. If the Rose faithful spot him taking selfies, he might get a fair bit extra stick tonight back down the road...

Bonnyrigg Rose manager Robbie Horn tells BBC Scotland: "You’ve got to have belief coming into a game like this. You’re playing against a really good side, with a new manager, so they’ll be looking for a big performance today.

"We’ve got to enjoy the occasion as well. Sometimes you need to pinch yourself when you’re at Bonnyrigg. Only eight years ago we were in the [SJFA East Region] Super League, the journey we’ve been on in a very short period of time has been incredible. To be here, against Aberdeen in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup is fantastic for the club and the community.

"It’s a really good Aberdeen team. We want to challenge ourselves and Neil [Warnock] has shown us a lot of respect with the team they’ve put out. Even looking at their bench as well, it’s a really strong squad and a big challenge for us."

Inverness Caley Thistle and Partick Thistle will fancy their chances, won't they?

Hibs are up in the Highlands while Livingston go to Firhill, with both top-flight sides enduring poor runs of form.

Livi's only victory since early October came in the last round as they edged out Raith Rovers in West Lothian, but David Martindale's strugglers come into this one on a real downer after losing out to a late goal at Rugby Park on Wednesday.

Although there was a marked improvement in the cruel midweek loss to Celtic, Hibs have looked a bit soft under Nick Montgomery and their only win from their past eight outings was a rather fortunate one away to Forfar.

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "There's a healthy regard and respect for Cove. They've got a lot of players that have played the level.

"We're well aware that in a cup tie, shocks can happen. Knowing Paul [Hartley] as I do and the players as I do, they won't come here feeling inferior.

"They'll be coming here with a plan and we've got to make sure we do all that we can to make sure we're not an statistic."

On his 100th game as Killie boss: "It has gone pretty quickly. You've just got to look through the leagues at the number of managers who lose their jobs.

"I'm grateful to work with good people. Today's a day to make sure we get the club into the next round of the cup."

Even with the Rose involved, we'll park the "romance of the cup" patter this weekend with Valentine's Day just around the corner.

But there's certainly a bit of magic about Bonnyrigg's trip to Aberdeen today.

In Neil Warnock's Pittodrie bow, the fourth-tier club travel to the Granite City as the lowest-ranked side remaining.

Sean Connery's old team have won the Junior Cup twice, but this is the furthest they have been in this competition.

Warnock, meanwhile, has never taken a team to a cup final - and it would be a major shock if he didn't take a step towards reaching Hampden in his first home match in charge.

Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan tells BBC Scotland: "You have to have that belief, that's the key. If you don't believe, what's the point? The reason you're at this part of the cup is because you do believe.

"We've deservedly gone through and now we're up against a tough Livingston side, but we're confident.

"You need to take every game on it's own merits. Just because you've beat one Premiership side, it doesn't mean you'll beat another. But we have the belief.

"We don't go shouting about it, but we know we're a good side. We have to take physicality out of the game, move the ball quickly and don't allow them close to us."

The magic of the Scottish Cup was in the air early doors in Bonnyrigg this morning.

Eight supporter buses and counting took off from 08:00 onwards, with many others pitching up here last night and some coming by train and car today too.

There's nearly 1,000 away fans. May I remind you the Rosey Posey are a League Two club. Tremendous stuff.

They're dreaming, and why not? They've already ended Falkirk's 26-match unbeaten run. Spoiling Neil Warnock's home debut won't faze them at all...

Quite a day for the Darge family.

While Arron Darge is getting set for a Scottish Cup last-16 tie with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, his older brother Rory is playing actual rugby.

Aberdeen interim manager Neil Warnock tells BBC Scotland: "I'm looking forward to it. It's an old-fashioned ground. I go back to my QPR and Palace days, where crowds are on top of you, and it makes for a really good atmosphere - especially for a cup game against a lesser team who have done really well to get here. It'll be a good battle."

On what he has learned this week: "The weather is quite horrendous, I was already told that. But no, it's a good group of lads, we've just been brushing up on things that I like to see my lads do. And if I can make them a little more solid, that'll be it."

On the possibility of silverware: "I think the lads know I have come up to win every game if I can. It's the old cliche about taking each game as it comes. Today is a very important game as I'd like to progress and I would like to win a cup. I don't kid myself, I've been in the other dressing room today and they'd die for the cause - which is one of my phrases. We've got to be ready for them."

In his 100th game as Kilmarnock manager, Derek McInnes makes six changes to the side that left it late to see off Livingston on Wednesday.

After assisting that winner, Kevin van Veen makes his first start for the Ayrshire side, while Corrie Ndaba, Matty Kennedy, Liam Polworth, Fraser Murray and Rory McKenzie are also drafted in.

Out go Jo Wright, Liam Donnelly, Tom Davies, Danny Armstrong, Greg Stewart and Kyle Vassell.

There's just two changes for Paul Hartley's Cove as Matthew Sheils and Cameron Stewart are replaced by Michael Doyle and Josh Kerr.
