Sarah McFadden would run through a brick wall to be on the pitch for Northern Ireland so there must be some issue there and Tanya has obviously given her five minutes in the second half to see how she is.

She brings massive experience to the team and has become the lynchpin of the defence over the last couple of years so would be a massive loss if she wasn't there on Tuesday.

Another chance goes begging for Northern Ireland as Laure Wade's deep cross finds Danielle Maxwell in a promising position in the box, but a heavy touch prevents her from getting a shot off.

Northern Ireland now have a free-kick in a good crossing position after Rebecca McKenna was fouled Jasna Djokovic, who picks up a yellow card.

  8. 'I think the tie should be in our favour'published at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

I think the opening 45 minutes shows that we're the stronger team and that there is nothing to fear for the next 45 minutes of this game and coming back home on Tuesday night with our crowd behind us.

I think definitely the tie should be in our favour.

Northern Ireland could play quicker in transition and the final ball needs to have a bit more quality on it, but they're definitely creating opportunities.

Tanya Oxtoby wanted control of the game. She's got that so far.

She wanted a good performance and, on the whole, her players have delivered.

The only thing missing is a goal.

Northern Ireland have created a few good chances but have yet to make one of them count.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:48 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

    Montenegro 0-0 Northern Ireland

Plenty of chances but Northern Ireland have yet to find a breakthrough in Podgorica.

They have dominated the game and fashioned good chances for Lauren Wade and Danielle Maxwell, but they have lacked the composure in the final third to break the deadlock.

Tanya Oxtoby will be happy with what she has seen, but will demand a clinical streak in front of goal in the second period.

Armisa Kuc drives forward and sees her low dipping effort easily taken by Maddy Harvey-Clifford.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

    Montenegro 0-0 Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland captain Marissa Callaghan picks up the first yellow card of the game after a late tackle on Jelena Karlicic.

The midfielder has had a few warnings for late challenges previous to that one.

  13. Postpublished at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

    Montenegro 0-0 Northern Ireland

Danielle Maxwell drives down the right and lofts in a cross which lands in Anastasija Krstovic's arms.

Simeone Magill gives her a slight nudge as the goalkeeper goes to gather, a sign of her frustration as the striker has rarely been involved as we enter the last 10 minutes of the half.

  14. 'Plenty of room for improvement'published at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

I'd probably rate Northern Ireland a 7/10 at the minute.

There has been lots of good play in the build-up, but once we get into the box we aren't being clincial enough.

Particularly with our set pieces, we have had quite a few corners so far and haven't been able to get an effort on target so far, so plenty of room for improvement.

  15. Postpublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

    Montenegro 0-0 Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland's momentum in this game has waned as the half has gone on as they're really struggling in the final third to carve out clear cut chances.

  16. Northern Ireland 'dominating'published at 13:24 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

    Montenegro 0-0 Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland are the team that are dominating and have that extra time and space on the ball.

Montenegro are putting bodies on the line and trying to defend and Northern Ireland can't seem to get through, but lots of good build-up play.

  17. Postpublished at 13:24 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

    Montenegro 0-0 Northern Ireland

Armisa Kuc shows great footwork to beat two defenders before seeing her poked effort deflect into the side netting for a corner.

She has been Montenegro's brightest spark so far.

  18. Postpublished at 13:21 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

    Montenegro 0-0 Northern Ireland

The game has gone a bit scrappy in the last few minutes, with sloppy passes from Northern Ireland surrendering possession easily after a bright opening to the game from Tanya Oxtoby's side.

  19. 'NI can't afford to drop out of the B League'published at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

    Montenegro 0-0 Northern Ireland

    Julie Nelson
Northern Ireland's most capped player on co-commentary

Northern Ireland haven't been outside of the top 32 in Europe since we entered it [the rankings] back in 2007/2008.

I don't think we can afford to drop out of the B League in the Nations League as that would be outside of the top 32 in Europe and it would make it extremely difficult to qualify for the Euros in 2025.

  20. CLOSE!published at 13:15 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

    Montenegro 0-0 Northern Ireland

Lauren Wade really should have put Northern Ireland ahead, but excellent defending from Aleksandra Popovic keeps the game goalless.

Tanya Oxtoby's side launched a swift counter attack from a Montenegro corner, with Rebecca McKenna driving forward before picking out Joely Andrews.

She moved the ball onto Wade, who looked destined to score before Popovic cleared her effort which was heading into the far corner, off the line.

That is two big chances for Wade, and two big misses.
