    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland tells BBC Scotland: "Things are going well, the goals are going in and I feel like I'm doing my job for the team. Hopefully that gives me the best opportunity to be involved with the national team."

Asked about signing a new contract at Tynecastle... "We'll see, if we open talks further down the line. At the moment, the club and I are happy with the situation."

Is this the same Celtic we saw last season? No. Things have definitely changed in terms of intensity, maybe players not up to scratch.

    The bench was weak today.

  5. 'Everything we want to achieve is with us'published at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

"We wanted the three points, we didn't get it, so we move on," adds Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

"It'll be tight. We had a chance to go a point ahead, we couldn't manage that. Everything we want to achieve this year is with us. We have to get over this today, and we will do."

  6. 'Referees don't know the game'published at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

    Allan Preston
Former Hearts midfielder on BBC Sportsound

VAR is not the problem, it's the people running it. Referees know the rules inside out, but they don't know the game.

  7. 'The game was refereed outside the field'published at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Scotland: "Firstly, credit to my players because they kept going and fighting until the very end. We had a good start, get the penalty, don't take the opportunity.

"However, the overall game is influenced by the officials. I never come and speak about officials because I understand we all make mistakes, we're all human, but it felt like really poor officiating today.

"The first incident with the sending off - there's no force in that. If you make a still, of course it gives you a different opinion but the reality was not that. The referee made a right decision of a yellow card.

"That's a clear example of what people say VAR isn't. The game was refereed outside the field today. That means we get a sending off.

"The second one [Hearts penalty] is even worse. Tomoki gets a nudge, I don't know where his arm is supposed to go. The ball drops onto his arm. If that's the case, we should have had a penalty at Motherwell last week.

"For [VAR] John Beaton to say that is a penalty... Wow. Really poor officiating in a big game for us."

  8. 'Every turning point, we dealt with perfectly'published at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

Hearts manager Steven Naismith tells BBC Scotland: "I'm happy with a good, professional performance. I said before the game it would be difficult, Celtic have real qualities. The most pleasing aspect for me is we controlled a lot of the game, created a lot of chances. Every turning point, we dealt with perfectly.

[On Celtic penalty] "I think it's soft. Alex plants his foot and the ground and the forward has kicked him. I was disappointed with that because it's a big moment but credit to Zander who had a really good game. It's a big moment that lifts us and the crowd, and throughout the day we give as good as we got.

[On Yang red card] "The decision is right, because other similar red cards have been given. Alex is going to head it at head height, and the guy's studs are in his face. The penalty for us is very soft as well. I get the referees have a difficult job, the whole handball rule isn't right at the moment and we've benefitted from that.

"You can feel the pressure of having an extra man, having to force the ball. It evens the game out. We managed the game brilliantly, Celtic were chasing at the end of the game and we were breaking through them. If anything, we could have scored more goals.

"Overall our performance was deserved. It shows where we're at at the moment. It's worthy of where we are in the table. It's one we can use going forward. Against the Old Firm, we need to compete better. Last week was disappointing, but today we turned up.

"There's no talks [with Lawrence Shankland] at the moment because it's the middle of the season. We'll see what happens in the summer."

  9. 'Hearts magnificent all over the park'published at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

    Allan Preston
Former Hearts defender on BBC Sportsound

Hearts were magnificent all over the park. The best players on the pitch were Hearts players in the middle - Baningime, Nieuwenhof, Grant, Forrest was tireless, and Shankland did what Shankland does.

The defence was really poor last weekend at Ibrox. Not today, they were excellent. When Clark was needed, he was there.

Bringing the younger boys, Tait and Denholm, it's great for them to be part of this because it doesn't happen a lot.

That's two that Steven Naismith has over Brendan Rodgers. It's great for Hearts and their fans because it's been a tough week. A hammering at Ibrox and lucky to get away with a derby point midweek.

I've said to friends - I'm doubtful Hearts can keep Shankland. If I was Rodgers or Clement in January, I'd have paid what Hearts wanted because he scores goals. He's the best striker in Scotland, and he could have won one of them the league.

  10. Rodgers lambasts VAR interventionspublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

"I don't like to criticise officials," Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers tells Sky Sports before slaughtering the match officials...

"It's really poor and it's cost us," he says, taking issue with both the red card and Hearts penalty.

  11. 'You couldn't see Celtic scoring'published at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

You couldn't see Celtic scoring in that second half. They had a few chances and, if it had been Lawrence Shankland, they might have gone in.

I didn't think it was a red card [for Yang] and that changed the game. There were a few big moments which changed things. I didn't think it was a penalty for Celtic either and they missed that opportunity. Adam Idah did not strike the ball well enough.

  12. 'Best striker in Scotland'published at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

    Allan Preston

For me, he's the best striker in Scotland. Lawrence Shankland is a magnificent finisher.

  13. Twenty up again for Shanklandpublished at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

    FT: Hearts 2-0 Celtic

Lawrence Shankland becomes the first player in the Premiership era to score 20 league goals in two consecutive seasons.

  15. FULL-TIME Hearts 2-0 Celticpublished at 90+4 mins

Hearts make it back-to-back wins over Celtic and scupper any thoughts the champions had of going back to the top of the league.

The visitors spurned a glorious early chance, with Adam Idah's penalty saved, and that was quickly followed by a red card for Yang Hyun-Jun.

Hearts were then awarded a penalty, tucked away by Jorge Grant, and Lawrence Shankland added a fine strike, having had an effort ruled out for offside right at the end of the first half.
