This is exactly like how Man Utd played in the Champions League group stages. Sloppy at giving away goals, despite scoring many. How many heartbreaks can this team take? I am very afraid of Sunday night vs Liverpool, could be another 7-0.

I’ve been a defender of ETH, but you flat out don’t deserve to win a game when you play in the shambolic way United did from the 96th min onwards. Utter disorganization, zero composure and no concentration. Shameful from a team that allegedly harbours UCL ambitions

  3. 'It's a start to building a connection with the fans'published at 23:06 British Summer Time 4 April

    FT: Chelsea 4-3 Man Utd

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to BBC Sport: "I am relaxed because I think it was a tough game and the way it finished.

"So happy because I think we deserved to win. I think it was tough, but overall we were the better team.

"We started the game really well and the way we conceded affected the team in an emotional way.

"Man Utd play in transition really well and the way we concede the goals is the way not to concede.

"The reality is always to do more to win, but I think it was amazing and the performance was not great, but good.

"It is a start to building a connection with the fans and it will be very helpful for the future of us."

On Cole Palmer: "The impact is amazing. He is doing a fantastic job, it is difficult to talk more about him. Today he showed the mentality and the quality.

"I said 'Cole, two minutes more and to believe'.

"For us we need to think in the next game and to not think too much. We need to prepare for the next game and we only have a few days."

Absolute false words from ETH. It's the same excuses week in week out. We're no longer a team other teams fear. We give away too many chances to every club. When you can't beat Brighton it's time to go. Taxi for ETH!

  5. 'Individual errors cost us the game'published at 23:02 British Summer Time 4 April

    FT: Chelsea 4-3 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to BBC Sport: "It was for the neutral an amazing game. A fantastic football game with a lot of quality.

"Manchester United dominated the game but we made individual errors that cost us the game.

"We have to learn from it. When you are a Man Utd player you should already know how to deal with this circumstance.

"I enjoyed how my team were playing, it was fantastic. We dominated the ball, we dominated the opponent.

"In five days we dropped five points. That is unacceptable. We should have a high standard if we want to compete for Champions League football.

"I don't know [if the top four is gone]. I have to see again the ranking. Points will be more expensive. It's very disappointing we're doing this and making the wrong decisions. We gave away a game we should have won.

"As a team we should deal with this."

On injuries to Varane and Evans: "Also Casemiro we have to take off. That doesn't help in such moments. You need these types to show leadership and what to do.

"The team will be there on Sunday. They have character. They showed it today, fighting ourselves into the game."

  7. Postpublished at 22:56 British Summer Time 4 April

    FT: Chelsea 4-3 Man Utd

In Premier League history, only Yaya Toure (11) and Dimitar Berbatov (nine) have taken more penalties and scored every one than Cole Palmer's eight.

Palmer is just the third player to score two penalties against Manchester United in a Premier League game after Steven Gerrard (March 2014) and Mark Noble (April 2011).

  8. Postpublished at 22:53 British Summer Time 4 April

    FT: Chelsea 4-3 Man Utd

Manchester United were leading at 99 minutes and 17 seconds, the latest a side have ever led in a Premier League match and gone on to lose.

  9. 'You cannot give it away like we did'published at 22:51 British Summer Time 4 April

    FT: Chelsea 4-3 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, speaking to TNT Sports: "Yes we started poor, kicking the ball away and defending poorly.

"But you saw we were dominating the game and it was brilliant how we played - we deserved to win the game.

"But, you cannot give it away like we did and we have to manage this game better.

"It is a team performance, you can point to one of the players but it's about a team performance.

"When it gets chaotic you have to deal with it as a team and we made the wrong decisions and we didn't help out as a team.

"Out of possession we made bad decision - a lack of concentration.

"Also, I think lucky at the end with the penalty situation, questionable and very soft but we have to do better."

On shots conceded: "It is ridiculous. We showed we were fourth ranking goals in conceding and everyone is talking to each other after, we are good and we have good defending as a team and a good goalkeeper so I cannot do nothing."

On Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans fitness: "I cannot say at this moment."

On the result: "Definitely a setback and now we have to deal with this and get up - we are resilient and you have seen that today.

"The quality of our football is really high, but football is about results and you have to bring it over time."

  10. 'We gave it away'published at 22:50 British Summer Time 4 April

    FT: Chelsea 4-3 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to TNT Sports: "We had the game in our hands and we gave it away.

"It's frustrating. It's difficult to take. We had good control in the last few minutes. But they got two chances and scored two goals.

"From the corner we have to be much quicker. We knew beforehand they take corners and throw-ins quickly.

"In the last games we've conceded too many shots. It's about defending your box.

"It's a big game [on Sunday against Liverpool]. I don't need to say anything [to his team-mates]. If I need to say anything it's a problem because this is a massive club."

  14. 'There is everything to play for'published at 22:42 British Summer Time 4 April

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Sheffield United

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder speaking to TNT Sports: "We are disappointed. The narrative before by everyone is how many are Liverpool going to win by, even the most optimistic Sheffield United fan would not have expected us to go deep into the game.

"In possession they dominated, they dominate everybody, but we hung on in there. We had good opportunties, we should be in front after five minutes - we may have poked the bear - but we showed good qualities.

"There is everything to play for. From a manager's point of view, we want to know what we are getting from the team, over the last three games I know I am getting a competitive, well-structured team. We've got beaten, but there is a manner of going about it.

"We got done by a world class goal. In the last 15 minutes, you saw the power of the Premier League, and our achilles heel has been conceding late goals. We had players going down with cramp, that is the Premier League punishing you."

Concentration is an issue and they have to sort it out.

The 90 minutes came and I didn't see Chelsea scoring, you cannot have excuses at this level.

The set-piece goal is a killer and I am sure there will be an inquest in that training room.

  17. 'A massive momentum booster'published at 22:39 British Summer Time 4 April

    FT: Chelsea 4-3 Man Utd

    Chelsea

Chelsea's Cole Palmer to BBC Sport: "Crazy game. When we scored in the 98th minute I thought let's go for it. Madness.

"I didn't know what to do. I was running round when I scored.

"A hat-trick is a hat-trick. It was my first one, I'm really happy about it.

"I had a few penalties this season. I'm just going to continue to try to score them. If I get penalties, I'm going to try to score, I'm not going to try to miss.

"When we scored he [Pochettino] said two minutes, come on. He's always trying to drive us on. We went for it and thankfully we scored.

"It's a big winner. It's a massive momentum booster. It puts everyone in a good mood. Hopefully we can kick on."

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Sheffield Utd

    Liverpool

Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo speaking to the BBC: "We had a lot of possession but they defended well, we had to work really hard for the win.

"Patience is the most important thing. You can get frustrated or in a bad mood, but we stayed calm and focused."

On frustrations after Sheffield United equalised: "It can cross your mind, but we have so much belief on the pitch and on the bench that we will get the chances, then we have to stay calm to finish them off."

On Alexis Mac Allister's goal: "Amazing goal, everyone knows he can shoot very well. I'm very happy for him, and a big relief for us."

On playing after Arsenal and Manchester City again this weekend: "Depends on the results of the others what the pressure is going to be, but we try not to look at that. You will know the result, but you have to stay focused on your own game."
