    Carlisle 0-0 Stevenage

Decent start from Carlisle as Luke Armstrong has a shot from inside the six yard box but it goes wide.

  2. goal

GOAL: Crewe 0-1 AFC Wimbledonpublished at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    John-Kymani Gordon (2 mins)

Big goal in League Two. Crewe's wobbles continue as the Wombles take the lead, John-Kymani Gordon sweeping home with his left-foot after a cutback from the left byline.

A perfect start for the play-off chasers but a nightmare for Crewe, who are still in the promotion race.

Elsewhere, Crawley have given their play-off ambitions an early boost as Jeremy Kelly puts them ahead at Tranmere.

  3. A windy one at Blundell Park as ever!published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

Four flags all blowing in different directions.

The linesmen struggling to control them, even harder for the players to control the ball out there!

One of my first ever University Sports Journalism assignments was on top of the gantry at Blundell Park, in a gale, and I was scared for my life climbing that stadium roof-top ladder, so I know exactly how they feel up there on the North-East coast!

All systems go, the three remaining League One, and eight League Two fixtures have just kicked off.

Grimsby v Wrexham? 21st v 3rd? 28 points between them? There’s only one winner there, surely?

Well that’s what everyone said in the 2022 National League play-off semi-final too, and neither set of fans will need reminding what happened then.

Back to present day and the Red Dragons are in an automatic promotion spot and remain in the title race, but they are a very different proposition on the road than they are at home, winning only six of 19 matches and claiming 25 points compared to a total of 42 at the Racecourse.

They also have a pretty shocking record at Blundell Park, losing on four of their last five visits, not to mention the memory of that epic 5-4 home defeat in the play-offs less than two years ago which consigned the Welsh club to another painful year in non-league football.

The Mariners might be only six points off the drop-zone but they go into this one unbeaten in six, their best run since August 2022, while the visitors are looking to bounce back from their shock home loss to Tranmere last time out.

  6. Alex and Dons aim to to get back to winning wayspublished at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

Crewe v AFC Wimbledon (15:00 GMT)

Welcome to Crewe signImage source, Rex Features

Another whopping great encounter at Gresty Road between another two teams with play-off ambitions in League Two… or maybe even higher goals.

Fifth-placed Crewe begin the afternoon only three points outside an automatic promotion place, but are on a run of three defeats in four.

AFC Wimbledon are seventh, occupying the final play-off berth, but have only one win in seven on the road and have never won at Crewe in the league in four previous visits.

Overall the Railwaymen have taken 14 points from their nine encounters with the Dons in the EFL and have scored two or more goals in six of them.

They’ll have high hopes of extending their streak today as they have a formidable home record dating back to last season and have kept three clean sheets in their last four home games.

  7. All to play for in Cumbria as play-off race hots uppublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Barrow v Newport (15:00 GMT)

Holker Street, Barrow's homeImage source, Rex Features

Big one, this. Just six points and five places separate these two clubs in League Two and if one side can win it they will have not only strengthened their own play-off chances, they will have dealt their rivals a huge blow.

Barrow are sixth and six points ahead, going into the game on the back of a four-match unbeaten run in the league.

They are a tricky proposition at home too, unbeaten in three, keeping clean sheets in them all and not conceding in 10 of their last 14 games at Holker Street.

Newport will certainly head north in confidence, however, given they have won four of their last six on the road and have a good record against the Bluebirds, taking seven points from their last four meetings and winning 1-0 on their last visit in February 2023.

If they can follow-up last Saturday’s eye-catching 2-0 win at AFC Wimbledon then County could even find themselves in the play-off places tonight.

  8. Derby to continue good form in aim for top spot?published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Northampton v Derby (15:00 GMT)

    Derby CountyImage source, PA Media

Northampton have secured their League One status for next season with seven games left to play but boss Jon Brady believes they will have to be better than their best to compete with second-placed Derby County at Sixfields.

The Cobblers have only picked up two points from the last five games losing 2-0 at Wycombe last time out - their third defeat in their last four games.

They have never beaten Derby in 13 meetings in all competitions.

Contrasting form for Derby though who will be looking to make it five wins on the bounce as they aim put pressure on leaders Portsmouth.

The Rams have lost just two of their last 11 league games (W8 D1) and are unbeaten across their three previous away league games against Northampton.

  9. Stevenage to get promotion push back on track?published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Carlisle v Stevenage (15:00 GMT)

Carlisle v StevenageImage source, Rex Features

Bottom side Carlisle have lost 12 of their last 13 league games (W1), conceding exactly three goals in three of their last four matches.

This season in League One, no side has won fewer home matches (3) or taken fewer points on home soil (14) than the Cumbrians.

Paul Simpson's side will be looking to stop a run of four defeats on the spin.

Promotion-chasers Stevenage are winless in their last four games and need to get going again if they are to put pressure on their rivals.

However, they have already taken 30 points on the road in League One this campaign. That’s just two points shy of their total on their travels all last season when they were promoted from League Two (32).

Steve Evans' side have lost their last two games, losing to Leyton Orient 1-0 in their last outing.

  10. goal

GOAL: Harrogate 3-0 Bradfordpublished at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Daniel Oyegoke OG (79 mins)

It's all going from bad to worse for Bradford.

The cross comes in from Jack Muldoon and Daniel Oyegoke can only steer it into his own net.

  11. Can strugglers Port Vale pick up their first win of the year?published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

Burton v Port Vale (15:00 GMT)

    Darren MooreImage source, Rex Features

Burton will be disparate to pick up a win having failed to win any of their last six league games (D1 L5), failing to score in four of those matches as they aim to steer clear of the drop zone.

The Brewers who will be looking to avoid making it three defeats in a row have however won four of their last five Football League games against Port Vale losing the one and scoring two or more goals in each of those victories.

Speaking of desperate wins, Port Vale sit second from bottom in League One and have not won as of yet in 2024, drawing four and losing 10.

Darren Moore's side who are six points from safety have won just one of their six away Football League games against Burton Albion (D3 L2), though that victory did come during their last visit to the Pirelli Stadium in August 2022.

  12. goal

GOAL: Harrogate 2-0 Bradfordpublished at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    George Thomson pen (73 mins)

Harrogate are heading towards the three points as George Thomson converts from the spot.

Still a bit of time left though but it's running out for Bradford.

  13. PENALTY TO HARROGATEpublished at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Harrogate 1-0 Bradford

The hosts have a chance to double their lead.

Brad Halliday handles the ball and the referee points to the spot.

  16. What's next?published at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    FT: Mansfield 1-1 Colchester

An entertaining start to the afternoon, but there is so much more to come.

We have three League One matches coming up, including second-placed Derby's trip to Northampton as they look to close the gap on leaders Portsmouth.

In League Two, we have eight kick-offs coming up at 15:00 GMT.

Then at 17:15 GMT Stockport will have the chance to cut Mansfield's lead to two points.

They host fourth-placed MK Dons in the day's big clash.

  17. 'Maybe this is not too bad a point'published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    FT: Mansfield 1-1 Colchester

    Jake Garner
    BBC Radio Nottingham

Marched down the tunnel has Nigel Clough.

Now the onus is on the likes of Barrow, Crewe, Wrexham etc to keep up.

You are not going to steamroll every team, you will come up against players playing for their lives, for their careers.

Maybe this is not too bad a point.

  18. 'Excellent point for Colchester'published at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    FT: Mansfield 1-1 Colchester

    David Gregory
    Ex-Colchester midfielder on BBC Essex

What an excellent point for Colchester United.

They have come to the outstanding side of the division and they almost won it.

There were a couple of great saves from the Mansfield keeper, either side could have won it.

  19. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Mansfield 1-1 Colchester

Lewis Brunt's second-half leveller ensures Mansfield avoid a third defeat in five, but they will be disappointed not to find a winner.

The Stags go five points clear at the top but Stockport have two games in hand.

Colchester, who had chances of their own to snatch a big win, have now drawn five of their last six 1-1 and move a point clear of the drop zone.

  20. Postpublished at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Mansfield Town 1-1 Colchester United

    Neil Kelly
    BBC Essex

Chances for both sides continue, it is almost as if a draw is deemed no good for either side.
