Bottom side Forest Green are now four points from safety after their defeat at home to promotion-chasing Stockport as fellow relegation scrappers Sutton and Colchester both won.

Sutton moved three points above Forest Green after victory at Salford, while Colchester are a point above the relegation zone thanks to a home win over Newport.

The battle to avoid the drop looks to be a four-horse race, with Grimsby pulled closer to the drop zone after their 3-1 defeat at Barrow.

The Mariners are three points above the bottom two after back-to-back defeats.

Bradford ended a run of four heavy defeats with a timely win over Tranmere, while other sides in the bottom half to pick up three points were Doncaster and Swindon who inflicted another defeat on Notts County.

The League Two promotion race is well and truly hotting up as Mansfield’s defeat means the top four are separated by just four points.

Town lost their place at the top as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Wrexham who move level on points with the Stags.

Long-time leaders Stockport took full advantage with an easy 3-0 win at bottom side Forest Green to return to the summit by a point.

Barrow made it four wins in six to stay within six points of the top three, while fifth-placed Crewe were held to a goalless draw by Gillingham.

The point was enough to move the Gills into the last play-off place, replacing Crawley who suffered a surprise home defeat to lowly Doncaster.

Morecambe moved within three points of the top seven, with six teams within five points of the final play-off spot.

A huge afternoon at the bottom of League One where Port Vale made it successive wins beating Bristol Rovers, while Cheltenham won the relegation six-pointer away to fellow bottom four side Fleetwood.

Jon Mellish scored a brilliant hat-trick for Carlisle in a rare away win at Peterborough, but they still look bound for League Two.

Burton picked up a useful point at Wigan, while Garry Monk picked up a first win as Cambridge boss after their 2-0 success at Barnsley - much needed for both sides with teams below them winning.

With Reading beating Northampton and Exeter and Charlton drawing, it feels like it is six teams for three places to join Carlisle in the bottom four at the end of the season.

  6. Advantage Pompey and Derby as rivals drop pointspublished at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

Is this the day when Portsmouth cemented their spot in the top two? It feels like it.

Victory at Wycombe, coupled with Bolton's draw at Stevenage, means that Pompey need EIGHT points from six games to guarantee Championship football.

Derby moved six clear of Bolton with a win over Blackpool, although the Whites have a game in hand.

Peterborough and Barnsley suffered shock home losses to Carlisle and Cambridge respectively and their hopes of automatic promotion have taken a big dent.

But what about Lincoln? Jovon Mokoma's goal has pushed the Imps up into sixth on goal difference, above Oxford who were held at Shrewsbury.

It is now 29 points from 11 games for Lincoln and they are the form horses in League One.

    FT: Wrexham 2-0 Mansfield

    Craig Armstrong
Former Notts Forest and Mansfield defender on BBC Radio Nottingham

Wrexham got a goal against the run of play.

The positives are how well Mansfield dominated the play in the first half.
