  1. 'I feel sorry for the fans'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 6 April

    Dundee v Motherwell (15:00)

A little more Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell: "When you invest that money, it comes out of my player budget. Clubs can pay more for specific players. That can come about because you don't invest money in your infrastructure or pitch. We can see that that's the case here.

"I feel sorry for the fans, for our supporters travelling here today. There'll be less Motherwell fans here [sic], in light of the pitch inspections. We know how difficult it is in the economic climate to waste money on travelling.

"If you want to give a player more money - a player I'm fighting for - you can see where my argument comes from. We've had the likes of Rangers and Celtic comment on how good the surface is.

"That could be a benefit to them but I'm a huge believer in trying to develop football players and to do that you need to put in a proper playing surface here.

"I did play on worse pitches and I'd have been world champion playing on some of these surfaces but the game is supposed to have moved on."

  2. 'Ridiculous three or four days' - Kettlewell on Dens Park doubtspublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 6 April

    Dundee v Motherwell (15:00)

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "We're trying to go with the fittest group we've got and mitigate any risk of injury as much as I can.

"I'll be brutally honest. I'm meticulous in my preparation. I take everything into account - pitches, conditions, opposition. The players will tell you it's something we work hard on all week, you have to if you prepare properly.

"As conversations went on this week, I was half-preparing for the condition of the pitch. The referee thinks there's no risk to player safety - I have to disagree.

"Motherwell want this game to be on, I can assure you that. We've prepared hard all week. We want to fight and scrap for three points but I need to allude to the most ridiculous three or four days in the build-up.

"There's been suggestions of contingencies, messages from Dundee and Dens Park saying there's no chance this game would be on today - those aren't official channels.

"What sticks in my throat, this is where I get on my high horse, is we're in 2024. We're trying to make this game better, sell the best product in Scottish football. A couple of years ago, Motherwell realised they had a problem like the one at Dens Park. They spent £1.25m on the pitch to make it a better environment.

"We could have played this game, at any point, on our pitch. It's been playable all week. We do that for the greater good of Scottish football. We played here on 2 August, first game of the season, and I said, 'wait until you see the problems that you'll have here over the season', because the game was almost called off."

I wouldn't have been the only one to do a double take when I saw that Lawrence Shankland wasn't in the Hearts squad today. Manager Steven Naismith tells me he took ill overnight, probably with the same thing Beni Baningime came down with. Both players miss out today but should be back for the Livingston game next week.

  7. No Shankland for Hearts, three Buddies changespublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 6 April

    St Mirren v Hearts (15:00)

The surprise team news from Paisley is the absence of Hearts top scorer Lawrence Shankland, who misses his first league game this season. The Scotland forward, along with Beni Baningime, misses out through illness, with Kye Rowles and Cammy Devlin coming into the line-up.

The home side make three changes to the side that drew with Motherwell last weekend. In come Richard Taylor, Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Elvis Bwomono, with Mark O'Hara, Ryan Strain and James Bolton dropping to the bench.

    Livingston v Aberdeen (15:00)

Just the one change for Livingston, despite their defeat by Celtic last time out. It's an attacking one as midfielder Jason Holt drops out for speedy wide man Dan MacKay.

Aberdeen are unchanged. Caretaker manager Peter Leven takes his side to West Lothian off the back of two straight victories against Motherwell and Ross County.

Don Cowie makes three changes to the Ross County side that lost at Aberdeen last time out.

Strikers Eamonn Brophy and Jordan White come in, alongside midfielder Eli King, with Victor Loturi, Yan Dhanda and Josh Sims dropping out.

  10. Boyle & Considine returnpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 6 April

    Hibernian v St Johnstone (15:00)

Hibernian make one change from the side that was beaten 3-1 by Rangers last weekend.

Martin Boyle returns to the starting line-up for the first time since suffering that nasty head knock in their Scottish Cup quarter-final defeat by Rangers. He replaces Elie Youan, who drops to the bench.

Josh Campbell, who has not featured since December, is fit enough to make the bench.

Craig Levein has also made just one change from last weekend's defeat by Dundee. Andy Considine is in from the start to replace captain Liam Gordon, who picked up a groin injury.
