Bayer Leverkusen fans might have to show some patience today. This is not going to be a walk in the park. Loads of possession for the home side but they've not really opened up the Werder Bremen defence so far.

Nathan Tella is putting in the hard yards. He's tracking back and manages to win back possession which brings a huge round of applause from the home fans.

By the way, Werder Bremen look well organised. A solid start for the team that started the day 12th in the table.

First sight at goal for Granit Xhaka.

The former Arsenal player is about 25 yards out when he decides to go for glory.

It's not a bad attempt. It spins off an opposition player and goes out for a corner.

Nathan Tella has had so many touches already. He's so important to this team. Another cross into the penalty box towards Victor Boniface but the keeper makes a solid claim.

Now a corner for the hosts. It's only half cleared before the ball bounces kindly into the arms of goalkeeper Michael Zetterer.

The first sign of some nerves from the champions-elect. A careless pass almost lets in Werder Bremen but it is quickly dealt with and Lukas Hradecky does not have to make a save.

Nathan Tella looks in menacing mood already and he whips in a low ball which fizzes across the six-yard area but Piero Hincapie cannot finish.

The keeper makes the save but Hincapie surely should have scored.

Flags are frantically being waved from the stands while the home fans are chanting non-stop. They're really up for this!

A foul by Edmond Tapsoba earns the visitors a free-kick. To be fair, Werder Bremen do not appear to be intimidated by the atmosphere.

Adicuius: There's a lot to admire about the Leverkusen team. Hope they become invincibles, something even Bayern couldn't achieve. Just incredible.
