Lewis Hamilton is fastest in the first part of qualifying for Spanish Grand Prix.
While his team-mate Sebastian Vettel is on hard tyres, Kimi Raikkonen has been sent on the medium compound and he goes second with 1:26.490. However, just to highlight the pace Mercedes' possess, Lewis Hamilton goes fastest of all on the slower hard tyre with 1:26.382.
Daniil Kvyat, Romain Grosjean, Pastor Maldonado, Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi are the five in the drop zone with two minutes left.

The McLarens do indeed head out and complete their first timed laps, with Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, both on medium tyres, going fifth and sixth fastest respectively.

Lewis Hamilton is three tenths of a second quicker than Nico Rosberg on the harder compound and he climb into P1, but then complains of poor grip - a common complaint from the drivers so far this week. The top five is currently Hamilton, Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel, Felipe Massa and Carlos Sainz - all setting their best time on the hard tyres.
