And as Nico Rosberg relays that message, Lewis Hamilton goes faster! A 1:15.098 and it surely going to be a Mercedes qualifying one-two?

No improvement from Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg or Sebastian Vettel in the first sector. Is Hamilton's earlier time going to be the one?

Here's the top 10 as things stand. Lewis Hamilton has taken that option to be the first of the two Mercedes to head back out for this final shootout for pole.
It is a mighty fine lap by Lewis Hamilton and he has the provisional pole after a 1:15.304. Nico Rosberg can't beat it, with a lap 0.136s slower than his Mercedes team-mate.
All 10 have clocked a timed lap and head back to the pits a we enter the final five minutes of qualifying.
Lewis Hamilton is off the mark with a 1:20.611 but he is quickly bumped down to P3 as Sergio Perez goes fastest with 1:17.912 and a 1:17.912 from Kimi Raikkonen puts him into P2. All to change soon though.
We're into the top 10 shootout and the battle for that crucial pole. Only once in the last decade has this race not been won from pole and with that news of a bit of rain, drivers are eager to get out.

Eddie Marlin: You could record Monaco GP, watch the 1st lap, fast forward to the last lap and you'll have the gist of it. It's an obsolete circuit.
Vicky Sanderson: Button may not be in the top ten, but McLaren are improving. Not sure how much of it is Monaco magic, but half the team are getting there.
Liam Hodgins: Button doesn't make it into Q3 but he's looking competitive. Could there be points tomorrow for McLaren & Jenson? I hope so!

Jenson Button is gutted. "Oh that is painful! That would have been easy. Sorry guys," he says over team radio. There wasn't much in it, with the Briton missing out by one tenths of a second.
