"Ultramarine skies, warm sunshine, the local boy on pole after a close and exciting battle with his team-mate. So far, the British Grand Prix could not have been more perfect for the tens of thousands of fans who've flocked to Silverstone this weekend for their annual motorsport pilgrimage.

"The blue skies have gone, to be replaced by grey, but even more fans are due on Sunday, the predicted crowd of 140,000 marking the largest since Nigel Mansell won in 1992 at the height of what was then called Mansell-mania.

"As Lewis Hamilton walked out on to the fans' stage on Saturday night to a deafening roar, it looked very much like a new era of worship for a new British hero had finally arrived. Would that be 'Hamilton hysteria'? Whatever it's called, this place will go wild should the world champion take his second consecutive home victory this afternoon, after starting from pole."

Morning everyone. We're very pleased you could join us for what really is a rather special moment in any F1 season - British Grand Prix day.

An ever-present on the F1 calendar since the inception of the sport in 1950, this will be the 66th staging of a race that has delivered a whopping 22 home winners to date.

Lewis Hamilton will look to increase that tally to 23 when he leads the field away from his eighth pole position of the season at 13:00 BST, but team-mate Nico Rosberg will be right there alongside him, bidding to make it four wins from the last five races.

It has the makings of a belter. Let's hope it delivers.

    "Get off!"

"OK OK. Right, hello everyone and welcome along to Silverstone! Can I get an 'S'?"

    "Where's Toto Wolff?"

    "I said, 'can I get an 'S'?"

    "Pipe down, Horner."

"Errr.... erm... My dog's got no nose..."
