Coincidentally, Sir Jackie Stewart has just been speaking to BBC Sport.

"Nico Rosberg could easily have won the race but Lewis drove his race to win it. It was Nico's to lose and that is what happened," he said.

"Lewis will improve, he will improve a lot. He is 30 and at the right age to be learning."

Sebastian Vettel looks much happier for Lewis than Nico does. The Ferrari man tells Sir Elton: "We have a great car. I think we have exceeded all expectations. But it doesn’t feel great when you cross the line and you know you can’t win the championship any more. Congratulations to Lewis. But we’re getting closer."
