  1. 'Nico's driving is exceptional'published at 15:12

“Nico Rosberg’s pole this weekend is his fifth in a row. And yet the season started with a run of 11 poles in 12 races for Lewis Hamilton. What is going on? Why the change in momentum?

"Neither driver says they know. Rosberg says it is not the case that he is driving more freely now the pressure of the championship battle is off. ’I don’t have an explanation for it,’ he said. ‘What I do know is I have been working on it and if I am now faster in qualifying then great. It seems my work is starting to pay off as it was one of my big weaknesses and one of the big reasons Lewis won the championship this year. I’m pleased but more than that I don’t know.’

"Team boss Toto Wolff said: ‘Nico seemed to be really performing well in Mexico and here. I can’t really tell you why that is, whether it’s the driving, psychologically, or whether Lewis has won the championship and that’s one thing and Nico needs to secure second. I couldn't tell you; it’s just his driving is exceptional.’”

  6. F1 to mark Paris terror attackspublished at 14:54

    Chief F1 writer at Interlagos

“There are many here in Brazil who believe FIA president Jean Todt has mishandled his response to the Paris terror attacks on Friday. Todt, who is leading a global campaign for road safety, had already planned to hold a minute’s silence on the grid for victims of traffic accidents.

"There was pressure for this to be replaced by one marking the Paris attacks, but Todt has been intransigent. Instead, the drivers will wear black armbands on their pre-race parade ‘as a sign of mourning and tribute to the victims of the Paris tragedy and as a gesture of solidarity with their families and loved ones,’ an FIA statement said.

"‘In addition, a French flag decorated with a black ribbon will be carried on the truck used during the drivers' parade. The same flag will be displayed on the world television feed, as will 13.11.2015, the date of the tragedy.'

"Some have criticised this as an unsatisfactory fudge. ‘Todt just doesn’t get it,’ one senior figure said."

“The championship has long been settled in Lewis Hamilton’s favour, but the competitive tension at Mercedes has dimmed not at all. Lewis Hamilton says there has been ‘no drop in intensity’ and Nico Rosberg says he has ‘a Formula 1 face on, I’m driving a Silver Arrow, I have a chance to win and I want to do it’.

"Just 0.078 seconds separated them in qualifying and this race looks like being as close as ever between them, even if they are out of reach of everyone else.”

Hello and welcome. It's time for race day at Interlagos.

Will Nico Rosberg hold off team-mate Lewis Hamilton? Can a Ferrari spoil the Mercedes party? Will a McLaren end up on the back of a lorry - again?

Lights out at 16:00 GMT - but there's plenty to chat about before then.
