Second-placed Daniel Ricciardo tells Channel Four: "I'm pleased. I knew a podium was on today, you are never guaranteed but if we had the pace we had on Friday we would get there.

"A win is the really big target, but Nico had the pace we expected so second is the best we could do.

"There was not too much overtaking, but I'm happy with the race and it was a good outcome. That's three races in a row we have finished ahead of Ferrari and we are showing really good progress."

Jeremiah Kariuki: Though not much racing in the front, Spa has proved yet again it is an entertainment full track! Good racing day!

Dan Bell: More dangerous driving from Max Verstappen. At some point he will cause a big crash.

Saad Ahmed: What is with the booing at every race. Can we not applaud the person who wins irrespective of whom we support?

Some more quotes from race winner Nico Rosberg. He tells Channel Four: "I'm feeling great, it was a perfect result.

"The car was really impressive. We started the weekend in a lot of trouble, but we pulled it together and changed the car massively.

"I didn't expect Lewis to be third and that was pretty impressive, he must have done a great job. I'm not focused on points, this weekend I came here to win the Belgian Grand Prix and I managed to do that."

"That shoe is going to be pretty hot and smelly," says Red Bull boss Christian Horner after watching his former driver drink from Daniel Ricciardo's shoe.

He goes on to tell Sky Sports: "Great to see Daniel Ricciardo up there - very controlled and disciplined race. It was about managing the tyres today.

"It's tough for Max because all the damage was done at the first corner. His race was compromised from that point. They're racing drivers going for he inside line - three into one doesn't go."

McLaren's Fernando Alonso came seventh today and is happy with the weekend's work.

"It was a good feeling and we had the pace a little bit more than expected," Alonso tells Channel Four. "We are in the points today and we were lucky with the safety car and lucky with the red flag.

"It is enough to keep the Williams behind, we overtook Toro Rosso in the Constructors Championship and we can be in the points from now on."

Lewis Hamilton on Sky Sports after finishing third: "I would definitely have taken third. I'm so happy and proud of every one. I was not expecting that. l made sure I had a positive attitude and it worked.

"The guys did an exceptional job. It's so easy to make mistakes when you change three engines and all units worked perfectly.

"All the commotion happened and I was grateful to be able to capitalise on that. What I'm really impressed with here were the fans - there were a lot of Brits and there was a lot of support for me which I was not expecting.

"I think I now have more engines than most and I'm very happy about that. The fight is on from the next race. Hopefully it's a cleaner second half of the season."

There's potentially an interesting situation at Renault if Magnussen can't race at Monza next week.

Renault's reserve driver Esteban Ocon has been farmed out to Manor, to replace Rio Haryanto, whose sponsorship money dried up.

Renault would, you presume, have to recall Ocon, meaning Manor may have to return to Haryanto.

Frederic Vasseur, team principal of the Renault Formula 1 team, has given an update on the injury to Kevin Magnussen, who was involved in a crash at 180mph.

"He looks OK and he went to the hospital to check," Vasseur tells Sky Sports. "He had a small cut on the ankle, they did an X-Ray and it looks OK.

"With back-to-back races it will not be easy for him or the car. We have not checked the data so far, but he took a lot of wheel spin on the kerb."

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, who finished ninth, has been talking about his duel with Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Raikkonen tells Sky Sports: "I'm all up for a fair battle and close racing but when I have to back off and break to not hit him, that is not correct. I was close to a big accident.

"If I have to break with full speed, I don't have that with any other driver so something is not correct.

"On the first corner I was a bit stuck between two cars."

  20. 'I'm not going to give up my position'published at 15:17 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

An eventful day for Red Bull's Max Verstappen, he was involved in a first-lap collision with Ferrari duo Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel, before an ongoing battle with Raikkonen on his way to an 11th-placed finish.

Verstappen tells Sky Sports: "The start was not great, I dived in the inside and was easily making the corner, but they kept squeezing. Sebastian turned in on both of us and I had a lot of damage. He knows he was on the outside and he turned into the corner when there were two other cars there."

Asked about Raikkonen's team radio comment when the Finn said Verstappen 'just wanted to push him off the circuit', the Dutch driver responds: "He should say that at Turn One, but it is good television to have someone moaning.

"After Turn One, if someone does that to you I am not going to give up my position. I'm defending my position and if someone doesn't like it, it is up to them."
