  1. Stroll pays 'heavy price' for spinpublished at 13:10 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2017

Williams new-boy Lance Stroll has paid a heavy price for his indiscretion this morning, when he lost the car at Turn Nine on cold tyres and spun into the gravel.

Williams described the spin as “entirely innocuous” but they clearly left their thesaurus back in Oxfordshire, because it turns out it has damaged the car sufficiently for it not to be able to run again today.

Williams have had to send some parts back to the factory for repair and they will “be back with us at some point” on Tuesday.

So not only has the 18-year-old Canadian left himself with only 12 laps experience and one of his four days lost before his first grand prix, but he has also impacted team-mate Felipe Massa’s programme as well.

Luckily, Stroll has been all over the world running in two-year-old cars in the last few months to gain experience so it should not affected him too badly, in theory.

  5. Tough on Stroll and Williamspublished at 12:59 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2017

So, we'll have nine cars rather than 10 in action this afternoon.

That news is a shame for rookie Stroll, who had just set the fastest time of the morning before his off.

The loss of a whole day's testing is a heavy price to pay for a small mistake.

"The five-minute extension before the lunch break was a big help to Renault as Jolyon Palmer was able to get out and do an installation lap," says our man in Barcelona Dan Knutson.

"Now the team can check the car over during the break."

And now the chequered flag flies. So, Hamilton finishes top again. That sneaky run on the supersofts putting him almost two seconds clear of the pack.

There's less than five minutes to go and still the red flag flies.

That might be it for this session.
