Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live
"The Renaults were really strong last year here. The track really suited the car. But it changes year by year."
As the clouds look even more menacing, Q2 starts, 15 minutes, the top 10 of 15 advance.
Jeroen Demmendaal: Sainz moaning over the radio about his car. He will fit in just perfectly at McLaren. Just perfectly.
Kayleigh: I love you McLaren, but I don’t have to like you right now.
Anyone still not sure why Fernando Alonso is leaving Formula 1 at the end of the season? This is why.
Stoffel Vandoorne's miserable day, miserable week and miserable season continues. He went into the barrier earlier today after an altercation with Valtteri Bottas. Now, in his home race, he will start 18th and qualified last, but Bottas and Hulkenberg have that back row thanks to grid penalties.
"We have no grip, it is incredible, even worse than before," that is Carlos Sainz's excuse for his Q1 elimination. He had not been in the bottom five until the last 30 seconds, but, sadly for him, that is where he ends up.
Another rubbish day for Williams. Both McLarens are also out, as is Carlos Sainz, who will be with McLaren next year.

Two Williams, two McLarens and a Sauber out as we stand.
Bottas, who will be at the back row no matter what, finally gets a time on the board, second behind his fellow Finn Kimi Raikkonen and that now drops Marcus Ericsson into the bottom five.
In danger - Alonso, Vandoorne, Stroll and Sirotkin with Bottas yet to set a time.
Only the top three - Raikkonen, Hamilton and Vettel are on the softs, with all the others on the supersofts. Daniel Ricciardo is now 10th.
Force India (or whatever you want to call them these days) are having a good day with Ocon fifth and Perez sixth so far.
Maybe that Daniel Ricciardo time is not enough just yet, as Ocon, Perez, Leclerc, Hulkenberg, Grosjean and Magnussen are all ahead of him so far. Ricciardo may need to go again and go better.
Daniel Ricciardo sticks in a lap of 1:44.518 and Max Verstappen a 1:43.199. No dramas for the Red Bull pair.
Performers dressed as Romain Grosjean, Max Verstappen, Brendon Hartley, Pierre Gasly, and Lewis Hamilton entertain the crowds at Spa.
Lewis Hamilton comes in with a 1:43.543 and that is him safely into Q2, so too for Kimi Raikkonen at 1:42.585 and Sebastian Vettel with a 1:43.035. All three to advance.

Q1 is go. Eighteen minutes. Remember, all 20 take part, the bottom five are eliminated.
