Quite a few drivers have been subject to speculation with regards to not being happy with their team's performance and possible moves elsewhere.

With dreams of an eighth world title still a big ambition for Lewis Hamilton, is Toto Wolff right? Will the 38-year-old have to look elsewhere if wants to become the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time?

Is there even another team he could go to?

Send us your thoughts on this using the hashtag #BBCF1 on Twitter. We'll get as many as we can in the page during both sessions.

Lewis Hamilton will have to consider leaving Mercedes if they cannot deliver a competitive car "in the next couple of years", his team boss says.

Toto Wolff said he was "absolutely confident" Hamilton would sign a new contract at Mercedes this year.

But he added: "Nevertheless, if he wants to win another championship, he needs to make sure he has the car.

"If we cannot demonstrate we are able to give him the car in the next couple of years, he needs to look everywhere."

Wolff added: "I don't think he's doing it at this stage. But I will have no grouch if that happens in a year or two.

"I don't think that Lewis will leave Mercedes. He's at the stage of a career where we trust each other, we have formed the great bond among each other and we have no reason to doubt each other, even though this is a difficult spell.

"But so nice it will be when we come out of this valley of tears, and come back to solid performances."

And he said that he and Hamilton were already well on the way to agreeing a new deal.

"We are talking about when we want to do it and how," Wolff said. "We just need to change some terms - the dates basically."

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton finished 11th on the timesheets, 0.996secs off the pace, and said he had "struggled" in both sessions.

Esteban Ocon was fourth for Alpine, George Russell fifth for Mercedes and Ocon's team-mate Pierre Gasly was sixth.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez secured Red Bull a one-two in opening practice yesterday by topping the timesheets in the first hour in Jeddah.

Reigning world champion Verstappen set the pace, 0.489 seconds ahead of team-mate Perez, with Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin third, 0.698secs off the Dutchman's marker.

Alonso’s team-mate Lance Stroll was fourth fastest, ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton.

During the session Ferrari announced that they had changed the engines on both cars “as a precaution” following Charles Leclerc’s failure in Sakhir.

Leclerc has a 10-place grid penalty for Sunday’s race after already exceeding his allocation of electronics control units because of two failures in Bahrain.
