Aston Martin running ninth and 10th at the moment so work to be done for them and plenty of work for some of those others down the field.

Williams I'm sure will be slightly disappointed with where they are at and Alpine, Gasly is 14.9 seconds behind Nico Hulkenberg who had to box earlier on due to a front wing damage so Alpine will be one of those who will be hugely disappointed with their pace.

Charles Leclerc, in fourth, is moving away from George Russell with the gap between the two up to three seconds.

Out in front, Max Verstappen's lead is almost 19 seconds.

There was a round of applause in the Ferrari garage as you might expect when Charles made that move on George Russell, the two Ferraris now best of the rest.

That's all he (Charles Leclerc) needed a bit of DRS and a mistake from George Russell.

  6. Postpublished at Lap 47/57

George Russell makes a mistake as he runs very wide. He'd perhaps become too preoccupied with Charles Leclerc and the Ferrari takes full advantage to move ahead of the Mercedes and into fourth.

George is struggling with his tyres, he's struggling with the car so he's altering the line ever so slightly to try and help him, but he's going to be under quite some pressure on the way down to Turn 11, Charles Leclerc looking the closest he has been in recent laps.

Paul: Another completely boring season ahead! It's not a competitive sport anymore. There's no point in watching until next season. You know the winner before the start. Predictable procession.

Sainz: "when do we expect the hard tyres to be quicker than the soft?"

No change out in front, and no danger of it changing significantly anytime soon as Max Verstappen leads Sergio Perez by 16 seconds.

I want to keep an eye on Lando Norris, he is slowly slowly creeping his way onto the back of this battle between Charles Leclerc and George Russell.

Charles Leclerc is into DRS range as he eyes a move on George Russell to get into fourth. The Ferrari is seven tenths of a second behind.

Leclerc having started this race looking very unsettled now seems to have come into it a bit more, a bit more dialled in perhaps in that Ferrari.

Fernando Alonso had been losing pace so in he pops for fresh tyres. He's back out on new hards, just ahead of Kevin Magnussen in 11th.

    Andrew Benson

Some perspective on that fastest lap (by Max Verstappen) it's 1.5 seconds faster than the next fastest lap that is set by Charles Leclerc. That is set on soft tyres and Leclerc's would have been set on hard tyres but he's (Verstappen) on soft tyres because the car is so superior and it's so good on tyre wear. That is the scale of the task that Red Bull's rivals have to face.

Lewis Hamilton is told that Lando Norris "hit his tyres pretty hard" early on as the Mercedes looks to close the gap to sixth. Norris is currently five seconds clear of Hamilton.

One thing I want to say is Haas' race pace doesn't seem as bad as last year. Magnussen is hovering in 12th and he's had two pit stops. They haven't really dropped down the order, which we are used to. Maybe they have improved their race pace.
