  4. Players can be 'local heroes 'published at 11:49 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2016

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on the FA People's Cup

“Five a-side tournaments are probably the way we all get into the game. It is just as competitive, it is their road to Wembley. It is a great opportunity for people to take part and get involved and keep healthy.

"It’s that community spirit, people pulling together and it’s a huge tournament.

"Now, you’re representing your city or area around the country and the teams have almost become local heroes so if you can go on and win it, then that’s quite an achievement.

"It might have started out as a bit of fun, but they’ll all be wanting to win desperately now."

  7. 'A chance for everybody to get their boots on'published at 11:37 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2016

The FA’s Head of Participation, Pete Ackerley on the People’s Cup:

“It is the chance for everybody to get their boots on and play the great game of football.

“Don’t get me wrong, when we get to the finals in Sheffield, with the chance for a trip to Wembley, it will be pretty serious.

“But, in the interim, in the first round we had some great, great stories of people getting out there for the first time in a long time, or getting together for the first time and playing this great game."

Squad are one of the 11 teams competing in the Under 14 boys category in Bristol and their captain Jago Lott, has been speaking to BBC Radio Bristol.

“We all go to school together and we all play around there. I heard it on the radio and decided to put together a team and see how we do. We played some physical teams (in the previous round) that were bigger than us but we passed it around and scored some goals.

“We practice every day at school. It would be great to get to Wembley that’s the aim but just playing the first round, five-a-side football, that is important as well.

“It is pretty much my life I live to play football. I try and tell everyone where to be and when to be there.

“I have been to Wembley once to see Bristol City play, but I have never been on the pitch before, it is an incredible stadium - I hope we can get there.”
