It takes a lot of nerve to do a handstand wherever you are, but to succeed, on a pile of rocks, on Mt. Snowdon...

Quote MessageAs far as I'm concerned every day is a good day to get upside down, your brain gets some much needed blood and maybe you can start using it from time to time!

This isn’t scientific fact, but we defy anyone to do a handstand and not smile. In fact, we defy you not to smile when you are watching someone do a handstand in front of you.
The act of throwing yourself upside down brings so much joy that when British artist Rose Finn-Kelcey (1945-2014) remembered a photograph of her mother performing handstands on the beach with a friend, it inspired her to capture how youthful and fun the gesture is and how everyone experiences it – whether you are handstanding or just watching.
The picture is called The Restless Image: a discrepancy between the seen position and the felt position. It’s often on show in Tate Britain but is currently loaned to Modern Art Oxford for the first posthumous exhibition of Rose's work from 15 July until mid-October.

In the deepest, darkest depths (or somewhere near Newport, South Wales...), we find the very rare, but spectacular, handstanding mermaid.
Not to be confused with the regular mermaid, this unique species only appears once a year for International Handstand Day.
We're very lucky to have caught a glimpse.
Why not?
