Reuters are reporting that the delay is expected to last "at least an hour", so we're going to park the live until we get some news.

The klaxon has sounded, players are heading to the locker room, we've got a threat of lightning at Baltsurol... Jordan Spieth, by the way, had just parred the first hole to remain three under. Knox  just beat the klaxon - he had to run to his ball, hitting the ball after the klaxon is against the rules - and finished with a par for a 67 and three under. 

Playing partner Marc Leishman, however, was about to address his ball when the klaxon went, meaning he'll have to come back after the break and complete his round. Whether that means Knox has to also come back, I'm not sure. 

Some pretty good scoring out there today. Scotland's Russell Knox has the chance to be the best-placed Brit if he makes a birdie at the last, he's three under after 17. Justin Rose and Charl Schwartzel both carded 66 today and are two under for the week, but seemingly out of it at seven off the lead.

How easy is the course playing? Maybe we should ask Francesco Molinari.

The Italian double bogeyed the first, dropped another at the third and was four over for his round after 11 holes and five over in total.

Maybe the pressure was off. Or maybe, just maybe, the course is there for the taking on the back nine because Molinari, after parring the 12th, finished birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie. Yep. Count them again. There really are six. And he ended up posting a two-under 68 to finish in the red at one under.

Two-time major winner Jordan Spieth has just parred the first to stay three under, while Wales' Jamie Donaldson is in the group behind and has tugged his opening tee shot into a fairway bunker.

Donaldson starts as the highest-placed Briton on four under.

However, the big guns are lining up behind them.

World number one and defending champion Jason Day is two back after a five-under 65 on Friday that featured a superb run of seven birdies in eight holes.

Open champion Henrik Stenson has opened with two 67s to be six under and he plays with 2010 US PGA Championship winner Martin Kaymer, who starts the day on five under.

Hello and welcome to coverage of the penultimate round of the final major of the year.

Robert Streb joined his fellow American Jimmy Walker at the top of the leaderboard late on Friday after carding the 30th round of 63 in major history - nobody has ever hit a 62.

His seven-under score lifted him to nine under.

Both players are looking to follow Masters winner Danny Willett, US Open victor Dustin Johnson and Open champion Henrik Stenson as first-time major winners in 2016 and need solid rounds to put themselves in position for Sunday's finale.

Saturday's third round of the US PGA Championship at Baltusrol is well under way and the good news is there are birdies to be had out there.

England's Justin Rose gave himself a lovely 36th birthday present with a four-under 66, that included three birdies in his last four holes, to get to two under. 

Ireland's Padraig Harrington, winner of this title in 2008, has posted a bogey-free five-under 65 to jump up to four under.
