  1. Predictions - 'Backing the Brit all the way'published at 04:00 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2023

    Boxing - Rodriguez v Edwards

WBO welterweight champion Sandy Ryan: "Sunny Edwards on points. Edwards is different. If you're a real boxing fan, you would understand his style. His boxing IQ is at another level. Edwards and I have known each other since the Team GB days and he's a good friend of mine, so I'm going to back him. That said, I do like Bam. He's got great style and power too. But I just think Edwards' boxing IQ will shine through on the night and help him win this fight."

WBA bantamweight champion Nina Hughes: "I think Sunny Edwards will win on points. I believe it will be a close fight but I can see Sunny edging it as he will use his skills and frustrate Bam, making him miss and simply out-boxing him."

British heavyweight Johnny Fisher: "Sunny Edwards points decision. He's got to be careful of Bam's power, but with his IQ and Grant Smith in his corner I think Edwards will get the victory, backing the Brit all the way."

  2. Round 3published at 04:00 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2023

    UFC 296 - Ferguson v Pimblett

Pimblett has put a lot of work into this and looks a little fatigued but he's doing a great job to control the hips of Ferguson, ensuring he can't get up.

There are some boos from the fans, who feel this hasn't been the most exciting contest, but it has been technically good from Pimblett.

Ferguson is desperately throwing out legs to try and catch Pimblett in a submission but Pimblett manages to evade.

And there is the final buzzer. It goes the distance and the result should be going the way of Pimblett.

  4. Round 3published at 03:57 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2023

    UFC 296 - Ferguson v Pimblett

Pimblett starts the round with intent, landing a straight shot right on the chin of Ferguson and the American stumbles.

Ferguson then attacks the neck as Pimblett shoots for the takedown but he isn't able to sink it in.

Pimblett tries again and is successful, Ferguson is on his back and, if the previous two rounds are anything to go by, he likely won't be getting back up.

  6. Round 2published at 03:54 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2023

    UFC 296 - Ferguson v Pimblett

Pimblett spends the rest of the round controlling Ferguson on the canvas.

He's unable to advance the position much but he is in no danger whatsoever.

That's two rounds in the bag for the Liverpudlian, can he find a stoppage in round three?

  8. Predictions - 'Sunny can do it'published at 03:50 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2023

    Boxing - Rodriguez v Edwards

Retired super-middleweight champion Richie Woodhall: "If Bam hangs back a little bit and uses his jab and boxes at distance, Bam will be a totally different fighter and a much harder fight. If he's coming forward, getting complacent, I think Sunny Edwards beats him. It's one of them. If Bam boxes at distance it's a much tougher night, Sunny can do it but in Arizona it's a much tougher job."

Olympic champion Lauren Price: "I am really excited for the fight, Edwards talks a good fight and he can back it up as well. He's got great feet, he's a great mover, a great boxer and he has great skill levels. But then you've got Bam and he can bang and he can fight. But I am going to go with Edwards winning on points. He's British and I think a lot people underestimate him. When you are in front of him and he's twitching and feinting, he's so hard to face. Everyone says they have got a plan for Sunny until they get in front of him. I think it'll be a very good fight, but I'm backing Edwards to win it on points."

Scotland's first female world champion Hannah Rankin: "Although Bam has proven power, I'm going with Edwards to win this one on points. He's too disciplined to get involved in a firefight with the more powerful fighter and I anticipate we're going to see a boxing masterclass from Edwards on fight night."

Pimblett is in his flow tonight.

Sunny Edwards is already among pretty elite company when it comes to active Brits in boxing.

Edwards, 27, stands with WBC heavyweight title-holder Tyson Fury as the UK's only two unbeaten male world champions.

The flyweight has won all 20 of his professional contests and has been campaigning for a unification bout since winning the IBF strap when he beat Moruti Mthalane in 2021.

He has made four successful defences in the meantime and tonight he has the chance to stamp his mark firmly on the division when he faces WBO champion Jesse Rodriguez.

The pair faced off at Thursday's news conference for a whole seven minutes!

Promoter Eddie Hearn says the bout will decide the best fighter in the division and speaking to 5 Live Boxing, he said: "It's the perfect fight for boxing. There are a few unanswered questions about both guys.

"Bam has not fought an elite guy in the division who is in his prime. And Sunny has never fought anyone on the level of Bam."

Sunny Edwards has been giving promoter Eddie Hearn a real headache in the build-up to tonight's flyweight unification bout against Jesse Rodriguez.

Edwards, who holds the IBF title, is attempting to add Rodriguez's WBO strap to his collection.

However, Hearn has revealed the Londoner threatened to pull out of the bout earlier in the week... because Hearn's Matchroom hadn't followed through with their promise to buy him tickets to the basketball.

Edwards takes on Rodriguez at Desert Diamond Arena in Arizona and it's the first time he'll be fighting in the USA.

It appears he is keen to seize every opportunity during his Stateside trip, including demanding to be the Phoenix Suns' NBA game against the Golden State Warriors

Hearn said he "spent a fortune" on the last-minute tickets to keep Edwards happy.

"Sunny is very lively," Hearn said. "He said if I didn't get him courtside basketball tickets he wasn't fighting."

Paddy Pimblett is first to make his walk to the octagon and he's soaked up the atmosphere at T-Mobile Arena.

He had the O2 Arena bouncing in 2022 when making his entrance to a mix between Tiesto's 'Lethal Industry' and 'Heads Will Roll' by Yeah Yeah Yeahs - the American audience seems to like it too.

The music is the same but the hair is different, Pimblett is sporting cornrows tonight.
