Race winner Peter Hickman: "I knew Dean was fast and we expected Michael to be there as well. I've always been strong up on the mountain all week, I came into my own at that but the gap kept growing and I would pull it back.

"I figured if I could gain a couple of seconds in the first sectors I might be able to pull it in if I was within five or six seconds and that's what happened. I am really happy, obviously.

"That's two race wins this week, including the big one. We have given people a lot of work to do this week rewriting the record books."

  3. Magic Michaelpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 8 June 2018

He may not have got his hands on the Senior TT, but Michael Dunlop leaves the 2018 event third in the all-time victory list after three wins this year.

John McGuinness has 23, with uncle Joey Dunlop leading the way with 26 wins.

  4. 'No excuses'published at 15:09 British Summer Time 8 June 2018

Dean Harrison, 2nd place: "Everything was going really well, I got stuck behind a few backmarkers but I can't use that as an excuse. I take it on the chin, I'm not disappointed, I'm happy. I have got the pace to run at the front, I am over the moon.

"Pete is a quality rider, I knew I wasn't going to clear off. I wondered where Michael Dunlop was, I thought he would bring it to the table today."

  5. 'The pace was hot'published at 15:05 British Summer Time 8 June 2018

Conor Cummins, 3rd place: "The pace was hot today but I wasn't surprised. I was focused on putting in a clean six laps together. I got going and my pit stops were amazing.

"I'm well happy, we'll come back next year and work at it again."

  10. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 8 June 2018

I wonder what happened with Michael Dunlop today? He did say in his pre-race interview that he had changed a lot of things on the bike. I can only guess that those changes had the opposite affect as he was never in contention for the win.

  11. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 8 June 2018

I've given up thinking that these riders and bikes have lapped the old course as fast as is physically posible.

It's 11 years (I think) since the 130mph barrier was breached. At this rate they'll soon be pushing 140...

BBC Sport's Richard Petrie at the TT Grandstand: "Everyone at the grandstand and around the circuit is catching their breath after that sensational, simply sensational, climax to the Senior TT race.

"Everyone who was fortunate enough to be here on the Isle of Man has witnessed another landmark in motorcycling history today - the first-ever 135mph lap and one of the greatest battles ever seen around the Mountain Course.

"Hats off to both Peter Hickman and Dean Harrison. What an exhibition of high speed road racing they have put on today. Truly memorable.

"If you have any interest in motorsport and that didn't get your pulse racing and the adrenaline flowing then it is something very strange. Motorcycle racing in its rawest form at breathtaking speed."

  17. Postpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 8 June 2018

Conor Cummins: "Two big bike podiums in a week, that will do me. I'm well happy. I had to have a word with myself after a poor start so I'm happy with third. I'm not surprised that the lap record has gone again, everyone's so strong and solid."

  18. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 8 June 2018

Dean Harrison: "I'm over the moon, disappointing on the last lap to get stuck between so many slow riders. I lost four seconds from Sulby Bridge onto Ramsey and I lost the race by two.

"But fair play to everyone on the podium. I can't ask for much more, what more could I do? I had the lead all race and got held back. I take the rough with the smooth and I'm just happy to be here."

  19. And the new...published at 14:33 British Summer Time 8 June 2018

That lap time makes the TT the fastest road race in the world once more.

  20. 'I rode as hard as I could'published at 14:33 British Summer Time 8 June 2018

Race winner Peter Hickman: "What can I say? Wow! What a tough race. Dean was absolutely on it, he was leading the whole race. I could gain over the mountain but he was pushing the first two sectors.

"What an awesome end. Mega. I rode as hard as I could, I knew it would come down to the last half a lap."
