It has been quite a poor Ulster Championship so far, but I think it can spring to life today. Tyrone are in the box-seat and Cavan will have to improve on their performances in those two defeats in Division Two of the league. They have to try and unlock that Tyrone defence, which won’t be easy to do.”

  4. Will Clones rain increase chances of upset?published at 13:41 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

The rain is falling at Clones. Will that affect Tyrone's strong-running and slick possession game? Time will tell.

We've already had one big football championship shock this weekend with Galway defeating Mayo 1-12 to 0-12 at Castlebar.

The minor game has gone to extra-time meanwhile after the scoreline was Derry 1-09, Armagh 0-12 at full-time. We will give you the final result shortly.

  5. Ulster reaches semi-final stagepublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

Well, we finally got a contest in Ulster last weekend (at least for 38 odd minutes anyhow) and hopefully the excitement levels in the province will continue to rise at Clones this afternoon.

Ulster favourites Tyrone have met Cavan twice this season and while the Red Hands won both contests, the Breffni men showed promising signs in both games.

Tyrone won narrowly in the round-robin stages of the league and while their win in the Division Two decider was more conclusive, Cavan were far from disgraced.

No doubt, Tyrone are strong favourites but there is that suspicion that Terry Hyland's emerging Cavan side are capable of causing a shock, if Mickey Harte's men are slightly below par.

    Let battle commence.
