  6. Master tactician Gallagher aims to outwit McGeeneypublished at 18:55 British Summer Time 19 May 2018

    Fermanagh v Armagh

It's maybe easy to forget that Armagh reached last year's All-Ireland quarter-finals (granted they were hammered by Tyrone) and their deserved victory over Fermanagh in the Division Three League Final on 31 March has only increased their favouritism for today's contest.

However that Croke Park contest was a very open affair and it will be little surprise if it bears no relation to today's contest.

Despite the disappointing end to his reign in Donegal, Fermanagh boss Rory Gallagher remains one of the best tacticians and readers of the game in modern day gaelic football.

Kieran McGeeney's tactical acumen has been called into question on occasions so the home support will have faith that Gallagher can guide the Ernemen to a semi-final against either Tyrone or Monaghan.

    Fermanagh v Armagh

Late changes to the Armagh side and a real blow as captain Rory Grugan is not deemed fit to start. Colm Watters was named in their line-up yesterday, as you will see in the below graphic, but he also drops out.

Ethan Rafferty and Ryan McShane come in.

Somewhat amazingly, there is no Crossmaglen presence in the Armagh squad today.

    Fermanagh v Armagh

Fermanagh manager Rory Gallagher has made three changes from the Division Three Football League final defeat against Armagh in early April for the rematch with the Orchard County.

Kane Connor replaces Eamon McHugh at corner-back with Lee Cullen's introduction to the half-back line seeing Tom Clarke dropping out and Paul McCusker taking over from Conor McGee.

Declan McCusker switches from the half-back line to join his brother in the half-forwards.

There are still 20 minutes or thereabout to the throw-in but Kieran McGeeney has already sent his men out on to the pitch.

Injury-doubt Rory Grugan leads the Orchard men out on what looks to a pristine Brewster Park playing surface and the corner-forward appears to be moving well.

The St Michael's Enniskillen band haven't had far to travel tonight as they provide their usual musical accompaniment at Ulster Championship occasions.

Despite the clouds overhead, the weather is still holding although a few jackets and sweaters evident are now evident on the terraces.

  11. Do Armagh have psychological edge over Ernemen?published at 18:39 British Summer Time 19 May 2018

    Fermanagh v Armagh

These familiar foes have met four times in the last 11 months with Fermanagh failing to taste victory in any of the encounters.

The most notable Armagh success came in their last showdown - a 1-16 to 0-17 win in the Division Three final in March.

Fermanagh have home advantage tonight but there may be a few mental demons as the take to the Brewster Park turf.

After last weekend's rather low-intensity Ulster opener at Ballybofey, we can surely expect a more few fireworks at Brewster Park this evening. It's a balmy, albeit overcast evening in Enniskillen, with barely a breath of wind. Perfect conditions for football.

We're hearing that a crowd of around 8,000 is expected. Not quite the bumper attendances of yesteryear but still large enough to generate a bit of atmosphere if the players can deliver.

With Kieran McGeeney on the sideline, it will be a surprise if we don't see a few meaty challenges from the visitors.

  14. Good eveningpublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 19 May 2018

    Fermanagh v Armagh

Hello and welcome along to live text commentary of the first Ulster Senior Football Championship quarter-final of the year.

Our venue is Brewster Park as Fermanagh host Armagh in a re-run of the Division Three National Football League final, which the Orchard County won by two points.

These two also met in the 2008 Ulster SFC final, with Armagh coming out on top in a replay. 10 years on and neither side has been back to the final.

The winner of this game will go on to face the winner of tomorrow's much-anticipated game between holders Tyrone and Monaghan.

Fingers crossed that tonight's match gives us an exciting start to the weekend.
