I watched Antrim in the warm-ups and thought that they were really up for it. That's how it has transpired so far - they're full of running, are getting lots of tackles in and are working really hard.

  3. Bravery from McKeeverpublished at 19:06 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    Down 0-0 Antrim 0-2

That's brave from Niall McKeever as the Antrim midfielder goes down to claim a loose ball with boots flying around him and he earns a free for his side.

Paddy McBride converts a simple free.

  4. First score to Antrimpublished at 19:04 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    Down 0-0 Antrim 0-1

Down win possession from the throw in but cannot register the opening score.

Instead, that honour goes to Antrim full-forward Matt Fitzpatrick with an excellent long-range effort.

Ronan Millar's late inclusion in the starting team robs Down of some experience, which makes this game an even tougher contest to predict.

  7. Head to headpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    Down v Antrim

They may be neighbours but games between Down and Antrim are rare events.

These two sides have not played each other in the championship since 2011 when goals from Conor Laverty, Marty Clarke and Caolan Mooney saw Down advance to the fourth round of the qualifiers - where they lost to Cork in a repeat of the previous year's All-Ireland final.

It is 18 years since the Saffrons last won against their closest rivals – Shenny McQuillan kicked seven points in a 0-13 to 1-07 success at Casement Park.

Antrim will have to upset the odds if they are to progress to their first Ulster semi-final since 2014 – Down have won eight of the last 10 championship encounters between these two counties.

I think it may be a low scoring game. I think Down will win but I think it will be close. There has been a bit of apathy in Down of late, with some players opting out of the county squad, and some of that has maybe spread to the supporters.

It is a very disappointing crowd. Both sides came onto the field to small rounds of applause, something akin to what you would find at a club league game. Players tend to up their game when there is a good atmosphere but the players will have to find motivation from inside themselves tonight.

    John Haughey

Just like last Saturday night in Enniskillen, it's a balmy evening in Newry.

There's a wee bit of breeze in the air but it's all bare arms in this natural amphitheatre of a venue with St Mary's graveyard to our right and the Drumalane Park estate overlooking us to our left.

The main stand is filling up nicely so it looks as if the GAA die-hards in both counties are doing their duty by turning up.
