Well that was pretty one-sided folks and the neutrals among us will hope that tomorrow's second semi-final between Armagh and Down at Clones will be a lot closer.

  2. Derry's form ominouspublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    FT: Derry 1-21 Monaghan 2-10

Armagh and Down still have to play in the second semi-final tomorrow at Clones but it's safe to say that Derry are going to be big favourites in the provincial decider on 14 May after this ominous dismissal of Monaghan.

Monaghan knew what they needed to do against Derry but they simply weren't able to do it as they were overwhelming by the Oak Leafers' marauding attackers.

The Farney men simply didn't know where the threat was coming from as scores were coming from everywhere.

  3. Derry complete eight-point victorypublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    FT: Derry 1-21 Monaghan 2-10

Derry led by seven at half-time and the margin is eight at the finish. As eight-point wins go, it's conclusive. It's not a stretch to say that the Oak Leafers outclassed Monaghan today.

  5. Make that nine for McGuiganpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Derry 1-20 Monaghan 2-10

Make that nine points for McGuigan as he points a free as Rory Beggan is booked by Sean Hurson. Stephen O'Hanlon replies for Monaghan in the final minute of normal time but it's too late for the Farney men. Monaghan fans are already streaming out of Healy Park.

  8. McGuigan free cancels out Bannigan scorepublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Derry 1-18 Monaghan 2-9

Micheal Bannigan swings over a fine Monaghan point from play but Shane McGuigan quickly replies with his seventh point after he himself wins the free. We've five minutes of normal time left but it's looking done and dusted at this stage.

Ethan Doherty has probably had one of his quieter games but still has two points to his name now after looping over another score.

  11. Monaghan cut margin to five once morepublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Derry 1-16 Monaghan 2-8

  12. McManus not happy with Hurson decisionpublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Derry 1-16 Monaghan 2-7

I'd better not repeat Conor McManus' verbal reaction as he is adjudged by Sean Hurson to have fouled Gareth McKinless as he attempted to fend off the Derry man.

  13. Glass notches steadying Derry pointpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Derry 1-16 Monaghan 2-7

Conor Glass partially atones for his lapse when led to the Monaghan goal as he storms forward to notch a steadying point for Derry.

  16. goal

Goalpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Derry 1-15 Monaghan 2-6

Have Monaghan just got a lifeline as Karl Gallagher slams the balls into the net via the crossbar after Ryan Wylie had hit the post from point blank range. It was one of those high balls into the Derry defence which seems to occasionally cause consternation with Conor Glass, uncharacteristically not cutting out the danger on this occasion.

  18. Rogers run sets up another Derry pointpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Derry 1-15 Monaghan 1-6

Rogers seems none too affected by his yellow card as his run sets up another free for Rogers, with Monaghan's Conor Boyle picking up a booking for his tackle on the Slaughtneil man.

  19. Derry's Rogers booked for tackle on O'Connellpublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Derry 1-14 Monaghan 1-6

Derry's Brendan Rogers is yellow carded for a clothes line tackle on Monaghan's best player Karl O'Connell. The Monaghan man seems fine thankfully and McManus points the resultant free.

It's been a bright start in the hurling as Antrim and Wexford cannot be separated in the opening 10 minutes.

James McNaughton found the net for the visitors!
