And so the road ends here.

The first run of this new-look football championship has produced a most familiar final pairing.

If you're new to Gaelic football - and some of our audience across the Irish Sea may well be - rest assured that today's decider has the potential to make a fan out of you.

Holders Kerry have made it back to the All-Ireland final at the first time of asking. There was a time when making two finals in a row was commonplace for the Kingdom, but having watched Dublin own the championship for much of the last decade, a win here today would cement Kerry's place at the top.

As for Dublin, this is their first final since completing that astonishing run of six straight titles in 2020.

The Dubs usually beat Kerry in All-Ireland finals but last year's semi-final defeat stung. It's been a rocky enough road for Dublin, who traversed the largely unknown surroundings of Division Two before starting their tilt at another Sam Maguire.

These teams have looked both awesome (see the quarter-finals) and unconvincing (see the semi-finals) in this championship. Whether or not they bring their best stuff today, this will be a final you won't be able to take your eyes off.

  6. Dubs and Kingdom set for titanic showdownpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 30 July 2023

    Dublin v Kerry (15:30 BST)

The two most successful sides in All-Ireland SFC history meet at Croke Park in what promises to be an epic duel.

Kerry top the winners list with 38 titles and the Kingdom are determined to hold on to the Sam Maguire Cup after their triumph a year ago.

Dublin were the undisputed football kings not so long ago with eight titles coming in a golden period between 2011 and 2020.

Dessie Farrell's men in blue are aiming to return to the GAA summit and there's also the scent of revenge in air after being knocked out by Kerry at the semi-final stage in 2022.

It's a tough one to call so it's all set up perfectly as the ancipipation builds to throw-in at headquarters.

    Thanks for joining us.
