  2. A chastening night for Crossmaglenpublished at 20:41 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2023

    FT: Trillick 0-9 Crossmaglen 0-4

Few would have expected Crossmaglen to fold in quite that fashion in the second half after leading 0-4 to 0-2 at half-time.

Being held scoreless in a half of football is something that won't sit easily with the six-time All-Ireland champions and 11-time provincial winners.

But that shouldn't take anything away from Trillick's magnificent second-half display as their running game blew Crossmaglen away.

Jamie Clarke's late straight red card - which looked totally deserved - capped off a miserable night for the Armagh champions.

Overall, the best team won tonight.

Whilst trailing at the break, Trillick didn't panic and came out in the second half a different team.

Crossmaglen failed to tally a point in the second half and couldn't contain the threat of Trillick.

Any chance of a late charge from Crossmaglen was denied following a red card for captain Jamie Clarke for an off the ball incident.

Trillick kept their cool and put over seven second-half points to come out victorious on the night.

The RTE replay was not exactly a close up but it appeared Jamie Clarke swung a fairly vigorous right hand into the face of Seanie O'Donnell which put the Trillick man on the deck.

That clearly left referee Barry Cassidy with no other option but to hand the Crossmaglen captain a straight red card.

With the incident completely off the ball, it did not look good.
