What a difference a year makes.

This weekend 12 months ago Fermanagh were celebrating promotion to Division Two of the Allianz Football League.

A week later they met Cavan in the Division Three Final when the Breffnimen, then managed by Mickey Graham, clinched a 0-16 to 1-7 victory. But Fermanagh's main target had been achieved as they looked forward to Division Two football in 2024.

Tonight even victory over a Cavan side, who on the face of it have nothing to play for after their promotion hopes to Division One were ended by last weekend's hammering in Armagh, may not be enough for the Ernemen to survive.

If Louth win or indeed draw in Carlow tonight against already-relegated Kildare, Fermanagh's goose will be cooked no matter what they do in front of the BBC Sport NI cameras who are bringng the game to you live on the BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport website.

Fermanagh shipped six goals against a rampant Louth last weekend as the Wee County seemed to take out the frustration of a few decidedly unlucky defeats in this year's league on the Ernemen.

So the form guide very much favours Louth tonight but as Chuck Berry used to say, 'You Never Can Tell'.

As well as the game with real jeopardy, promoted Ulster counties Donegal and Armagh are in action as Jim McGuinness' side host Meath and Armagh are in Cork. It will be interesting to see what sides they parade tonight in advance of their Division Two decider at Croker next weekend.
