The long hug at the net between Great Britain's Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro, of Argentina, said it all.
The two had just slogged it out and given their all in a four-hour battle for Olympic gold, with Murray finally prevailing 7-5 4-6 6-2 7-5.
In doing so, the Scot became the first tennis player to win two Olympic men's singles titles.
The rollercoaster match featured 14 breaks of serve in front of a raucous crowd and Murray's win comes five weeks after he claimed his second Wimbledon title and four years after London 2012 success.

Usain Bolt will be retiring soon, this could be the next star.

It was a pretty special night in the athletics at Rio 2016 last night and not just because of the great man Usain Bolt.
Before Bolt took to the track, South Africa's Wayde van Niekerk wowed the watching world when he broke Michael Johnson's 17-year-old 400m world record to sensationally win Olympic gold.
The 24-year-old finished in 43.03 seconds, 0.15 quicker than the time Johnson clocked in Seville in 1999.
Grenada's Kirani James, the London 2012 champion, finished 0.73 behind to take the silver medal, with American LaShawn Merritt in bronze.
It was truly amazing and deserves a watch...

Usain Bolt did it again. The Jamaican became the first athlete to win three Olympic 100m titles by beating American Justin Gatlin to gold at Rio 2016.
Bolt, 29, ran 9.81 seconds in his final Olympics to replicate his success at Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
Gatlin, twice banned for doping offences, finished 0.08 seconds behind Bolt to take silver.
"Somebody said I can become immortal. Two more medals to go and I can sign off. Immortal," said Bolt.
