We have great system but you don't have to have a great system to win one medal.

There are a lot more different sports in the Games than 30 years ago and we have been good at going with that shift and have done very well.

There are some sports we don't even compete in, we have a very high strike rate. It is 70 odd per cent.

Robert Worsfold: It has got to be the hockey. Genuinely unexpected and a classic final with the team playing above itself, and a dramatic ending.

If you happen to be an Olympic athlete at the Maracana and are following this entertaining and informative live text, do let me know of any problems the weather is posing. If you have a medal, don't let it rust.

When the athletes walk in wearing those ponchos, they are going to look like a massive queue for the log flume.

TV coverage of the closing ceremony is just beginning on BBC One. This might be your last chance to see the animated opening credits. I'll miss those jungle dwellers.

First, the bad news (at least for the athletes who are going to be strolling into the uncovered Maracana).

It is hosing it down in Rio, rain that would make Noah worried.

It is going to be a soggy end to the Games.

So we're going to have a party.

    Welcome to the closing ceremony.

The great George Harrison taught us that all things must pass.

The same is true of the Games of the 31st Olympiad.
