Great Britain's Helen Richardson-Walsh on BBC TV: "It is difficult to put into words what this means. I am struggling to believe it. 

"17 years ago when I started my career we were so far off. We have put in so much hard work, grown and grown over the last eight years. 

"We have got an incredible group of players and staff and we had the belief. It just means absolutely everything to get this gold medal."

How does it feel to win alongside wife Kate? "It is pretty special. To get an Olympic medal is special but to share with Kate is truly amazing."

I've just had a chat with Sam Quek and she said her emotions are all over the place.

The Liverpudlian said she cried when she first looked down at her medal.

She's quick to say that final had everything and can't wait to go for drinks and food with friends and family. 

Life will never quite be the same again.

I suspect goalkeeper Maddie Hinch is going to have a fair few notifications when she logs back in.

In her time away from social media she has starred in an Olympic final and won gold...

Everyone wants a place on the bandwagon. 

If you are just waking up/getting in/getting on and have missed the big news, for those of you in the UK anyway, it was gold for GB women in the hockey after a vintage final.

Truly great. It finished 3-3 v the Netherlands before GB triumphed on penalties. 

What a day.

Great Britain have reached 24 gold medals in Rio, with the prospect of number 25 just a few hours away.

All in all, a decent Friday night.

Not only that, but Great Britain's Tom Daley's was qualifying in first place in the men's 10m platform diving with a "supersonic" final dive.

While Great Britain were winning hockey gold, Germany were doing the same in football, aided by an incredible own goal by Sweden's Linda Sembrant. Just watch it.

And this was the moment that Great Britain were given their gold medals, confirming their place as Olympic champions.

It's worth reliving some of the best moments from that final. Most of them involved Maddie Hinch....
