"It's frustrating from a Wigan point of view because they have gifted them that try. It's a simple error from Joe Burgess and Wigan are six points behind."

Just as Warrington did last night, Wigan concede early. Joe Burgess is tackled near his own line and loses the ball under his own posts, allowing Broncos hooker Andrew McCullough to dive over unchallenged. A simple conversion for Corey Parker makes it 6-0 to the Australian side. Wigan coach Shaun Wane will not be impressed.

Experienced forward pair Sam Thaiday and Corey Parker have spent their entire club careers with Brisbane and helped Australia regain the World Cup in 2013.

Half-back Ben Hunt is a little lower down the age scale, but the 24-year-old has already made an impression at international level.

He scored a try on his international debut for the Kangaroos against England in the Four Nations last November and inspired his country to a 16-12 victory.

Hunt's half-back partner Anthony Milford is an exciting talent and one of the most highly-rated young players in the NRL.

After losing in last season's Grand Final, Wigan have started 2015 with an eventful draw at Widnes and a narrow home win over Huddersfield.

"The main thing is that we turn up and put our best performance on - I'm sure the players will do that," Warriors coach Shaun Wane told BBC Radio Manchester.

"We do need to improve. They were two poor performances. We're not finding that consistency in our game yet.

"I'm looking forward to it. We have a history at this club with the World Club Challenge and it's going to be a great atmosphere."

  20. 1994 and all that...published at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2015

Tonight's World Club Series meeting between Wigan and Brisbane will evoke memories of the 1994 World Club Challenge, and the last time an English side won the event on Australian soil.

A Wigan team containing Jason Robinson, Martin Offiah, Frano Botica, Shaun Edwards, Denis Betts and Andy Farrell were 20-14 victors against the Broncos.

The World Club Challenge returned down under last year after two decades away and Wigan were again involved, but they were thrashed 36-14 by Sydney Roosters.
