    FT: Hull FC 32-24 Castleford

Hull FC captain Danny Houghton on BBC Two:

"We knew that we were going to have to play for 80 minutes against a temamthat's probably been the form team of the competition.

"Fair play to our boys, we dug deep and we deserved that win I think.

"The memories we got from last year is something that can live forever, and if we can do that again, it takes a special team to do that, so that's our goal."

  7. Full time: Hull FC 32-24 Castlefordpublished at 80 mins

Hull FC's defence of the Challenge Cup lives on with a hugely impressive victory over Super League leaders Castleford.

Tigers head coach Daryl Powell will be disappointed with the number of errors his side made, but that shouldn't draw attention away from a very professional performance by the hosts.

    Hull FC 32-24 Castleford

Castleford have fought back bravely, but it looks like Hull will hang on for the win.

Castleford are having to take a few risks now, and it nearly pays off for them, as Michael Shenton's offload nearly puts Luke Gale over on the final tackle, before a Hull defender gets there to bring him down.

Hull need to make good territory on this next set.

    Comeback on?

Castleford move the ball to the right-hand side, and Greg Minikin finds himself with just enough space to go over.

Luke Gale makes a difficult conversion attempt look easy.

    Hull FC 32-18 Castleford

This is an audacious drop-goal attempt from Hull's Jake Connor, and he nearly makes it too.

From a long way out, Connor swivels and launches the ball towards the posts, only to see it drift narrowly wide.

Back-to-back tries for Hull thanks to Shaul

A magnificent try for Hull FC, one which surely has them destined for the semi-finals.

Hull race downfield with quick hands and swift feet, before Carlos Tuimavave beats a couple of tackles and offloads to Jamie Shaul to go over the line.

Jake Connor's conversion takes the lead up to 14.

A "bulldozing effort" gives Hull another try

Mahe Fonua scores it, but Mark Minichiello takes a lot of the credit.

Minichiello runs from the left to right, testing the Castleford defence, before eventually getting the pass away to Fonua, who takes it well low to the ground.

From there, there's only one possible outcome, Fonua powering over the line.

Jake Connor's kick extends the lead to eight points.

    Hull FC 20-18 Castleford

Castleford pin Hull back deep with the kick on fifth tackle, but they were never close to threatening to score there.

Hull advance to halfway and again launch a high kick towards Greg Minikin, who takes the ball cleanly.

There's only 15 minutes left for the Tigers to get back on terms here.

And just as I say they're on the back foot, Hull get chance to level the scores as another Castleford penalty gives Jake Connor the chance to kick his third penalty.

  20. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Hull FC 16-18 Castleford

Hull make good ground on their first set since falling behind, but Albert Kelly gets too much on his kick and it's an easy take for Greg Minikin.

The Airlie Birds are on the back foot here.
