    Leeds Rhinos 12-6 Hull FC

Mark Minichiello tries to power his way over the line but is met by a wave of Leeds tacklers.

They can't contain him fully though, knocking the ball on and granting Hull a scrum in dangerous position.

Two of my favourite playmakers in the game are on show tonight in Danny McGuire and Marc Sneyd.

Sneyd challenges the Leeds defence with a flighted kick towards the right of the Leeds defence, but Tom Briscoe leaps highest to claim it with ease.

It's very tense out there as half-time approaches.

Hull are matching Leeds, perhaps even edging them now, but they have to be careful not to concede again before half-time.

Danny McGuire's kick and chase almost sees a Hull player trapped behind his line, only for Matt Parcell to give away a penalty and put the pressure back on the hosts.

This has turned into a really good contest.

When you need a big moment from a big player, Gareth Ellis is the one to step up. There was no science in that: it was just pure pace and pure power. There was absolutely no stopping him in that moment.

He's a great professional who looks after himself and lives his life well.

Danny Houghton has hit the main man in Gareth Ellis for that try and created a one-on-one situation that Leeds could never have stopped.

    Gareth Ellis

Hull are right back in this!

Danny McGuire is penalised for a high tackle on Mark Minichiello, giving the visitors the chance to attack from close range.

Hull captain and former Rhinos player Gareth Ellis shows his team-mates how it's done, powering over for his third try of the season, before Marc Sneyd adds the two points.

As expected, the video referee does not award the try.

Hull felt Albert Kelly had the ball stolen by a Rhinos man as he lost it going over the line, but the officials disagreed, giving Leeds the restart.

For the first time, Hull start an attack deep inside Leeds territory as Marc Sneyd's high kick bounces out of play off Danny McGuire's head.

Albert Kelly powers through a tackle and barges over the line, but it looks like he's been held up over the line...

Hull really need a solid set of six here, to get a kicking game going and pin Leeds in their own half. It's just been all Leeds. Things just aren't going right for Hull - they need to get a grip of this game and get a grip of it soon.

Danny McGuire is running this game - he can have six or seven players around him and he still worms his way out of trouble. I think Hull FC will come back into this game but they'll need to get hold of the ball soon.

Leeds get the reward their dominance has warranted.

The Rhinos march 65 metres with their five tackles, but this time Danny McGuire opts not to kick, instead slipping through a tackle and flipping the ball to Anthony Mullally.

He runs over untouched to ground the ball, all of 50 seconds since coming off the bench.

Kallum Watkins again kicks the two points.

The first sniff of an opportunity for Hull as Mahe Fonua looks to break forward down the right wing.

Leeds again show their quality in defence though, as four Rhinos players get across to force him into touch.

From the hosts' next set of six, a Danny McGuire grubber kick causes more problems for the visitors and Albert Kelly is tackled behind his own line.

    Close again for Leeds.

Danny McGuire hangs a kick up high towards the right, but it's just got a touch too much on it for Kallum Watkins to hold on and get the ball down.

Hull are living very dangerously here.

Leeds' defence is doing a terrific job so far, with Hull yet to even offer a hint of an attacking threat.

The visitors hand Leeds another set of six around 10 metres out when Mahe Fonua knocks on.

This time, Hull hang on, as Danny McGuire's grubber kick fails to find its target.

The carries from Leeds are really intense - there's no shimmying, no sidestepping. They're going full-on at Hull and playing with a real intensity.

It's all about field-position and pinning the opposition in a corner. I think it will be a common thing to watch Danny McGuire drill the ball 80 yards and make Hull really work.

This is why you play the game. When you're running up hills and pushing yourself and doing things you don't want to do - it's for occasions like this.

Friday nights under the lights in semi-final... This is what these players thrive on.

    Stevie Ward

Hull concede a penalty deep in their own territory as Liam Watts takes a late hit at Danny McGuire after he'd kicked the ball.

Leeds make no mistake with the opportunity, as Stevie Ward reaches out to get the ball over the line just before he's brought to ground.

Kallum Watkins kicks a simple conversion.

A nice touch before kick-off, as Danny McGuire and Rob Burrow were given a guard of honour ahead of their final game at Headingley in a Rhinos shirt.

Hull won't be in giving mood though, as this could be captain Gareth Ellis' last appearance, as he plans to retire at the end of the season.

They will be ultra-confident in their preparation - they'll be physically ready, tactically ready and will know what they have to do.

The key will be having the energy to defend. It might not be the prettiest performance but you have to be prepared to push yourself, physically and mentally, to places you've never been before.
