    2017: England's World Cup heartbreak

If the memory of Shaun Johnson's last-gasp 2013 semi-final try for the Kiwis against England at Wembley remains as raw as a freshly-grazed knee wound, then I'd say Josh Dugan's ankle-tap on a run-away Kallum Watkins in the 2017 final is just as painful, just as sore, and just as agonising.

Yep, the Aussie centre stretched out a desperate paw to swipe at his England counterpart, sending him tumbling to the turf with the line beckoning and with it, ending hopes of wresting the trophy away from the conquering Kangaroos.

It was the culmination of a dominant tournament for Mal Meninga's Australia, who stalked their way through the rounds before edging past England 6-0 thanks to a Boyd Cordner try.

England had survived a major scare in their semi-final against Tonga, scraping through despite a spirited comeback to take their place in the final for the first time since 1995.

Ireland won two of three games but bowed out at the group stage, while it was a tournament to forget for Wales and Scotland, who failed to win a game between them.

The 2021 Rugby League World Cup is set to be the biggest in the tournament's rich history, as the men's, women's and wheelchair tournaments run side by side for the first time.

Thirty-two teams, representing 21 nations, at 21 venues across the three competitions await their group stage fate in today's draw at Buckingham Palace.

England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland are all represented across the formats, so there is plenty to keep your eyes out for.
