What an intense start. Crazy intensity by both sides, and this will be very tasty.

Samoa kick us off. I've still got goosebumps.

The moment we get a clip of that performance we'll send it your way. Well worth watching.

Wow, just wow.
Tonga march towards Samoa who respond with a rallying roar before facing their opponents. The two sides are inches away by the end, staring each other down.
And then, it concludes with a wall of noise before both sides shake each others hands. What a display.

Anthems done. Now it's a Siva Tau-Sipi Tau showdown.

Samoa were able to relight their tournament after that heavy defeat against England in the opening week.
They spent the next couple of weeks just finding themselves once again, but they’re back in the rhythm.
They were very big and strong against France and they were getting around the field really well as well.

The most powerful athletes in world rugby will be playing today. The contact and the physicality of the game will not be in question.

Plenty of support for Tonga in Warrington - expect there to be a large section of fans in red at Halliwell Jones Stadium...
FT: England 46-6 Papua New Guinea
Sam Tomkins
England captain on BBC Two
I don’t think it came across on TV how wet it was. They were pretty tough conditions but we completed 13 out of 13 sets at the start of that game. We’re really happy with the result but there’s still plenty to work on as well.
Everybody did their job and that’s something that is sometimes difficult with the national side because everybody comes from different teams who play with different styles. Getting that clarity of how we want to play as an England side is something we’ve been working hard on and we saw a lot of that yesterday.
FT: England 46-6 Papua New Guinea
A semi-final clash against hosts England at the Emirates Stadium awaits the winner of this tie.
In case you missed it yesterday, England blew away Papua New Guinea with a spell-binding first-half showing to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
A brutal and closely-fought game was expected against PNG, but it was actually a physically dominant England who took the game to the opposition.
Winger Tommy Makinson became the first player to score five tries for England in one match in a thrilling display.
England captain Sam Tomkins is part of the punditry team on BBC Two - I'll bring you his reaction to yesterday's win shortly.

Both of these teams came into this tournament with such big reputations, a lot of their Players are now star players in the NRL, and I’ll be honest - they’ve under-delivered.
Samoa, for me, have been the most disappointing team in the World Cup.
I think today’s the day we’re going to see Samoa grow into this tournament, we’re going to see Tonga really rip into this tournament and the exciting thing is they’re going to do that against each other.

Throw the script out of the door because it’s Samoa v Tonga.
I grew up in Auckland where there are huge Tongan and Samoan communities. It goes beyond the sport and into the culture as well.
They’re brothers in arms but, when it comes to sport, they’ll go head to head.

What's not to like about this last men's quarter-final match.
Two Pacific Island nations going head-to-head, both sides performing their respective country’s traditional war dance – the Siva Tau for Samoa and the Tongan Sipi Tau and then the huge power plays and thundering tackles.
Athleticism, skill, speed and real show of spirit and culture beforehand.
See what I mean...

The real box-office smash of the quarter-finals is the collision between Samoa and Tonga.
After a dreadful start against England, Samoa have begun to pick up, as evidenced by their 62-4 win over France. Tonga had a shaky first game against PNG, but their bandwagon is picking up speed, especially now Jason Taumalolo is back from suspension and at his destructive best.
The performance of their pre-match challenges - Samoa's Siva Tau and Tonga's Sipi Tau - will be breathtaking events. They will be worth the entrance fee alone.
And whoever wins that game will have a genuine chance of becoming the first Pacific Islands nation to reach a World Cup final.
If you haven't switched on to the Rugby League World Cup just yet, now is a good time to start.

The utility back appeared in St Helens' Super League Grand Final win over Leeds in September, at the end of an injury-disrupted first season with the club.
