Australia captain Sam Bremner, speaking to BBC Red Button:

"This whole competition there have been tired bodies, but we knew this with the short turnarounds after playing the best in the world.

"We have had to focus on the structure and strategy. We have found a team that can play in multiple positions and spaces. It's really helped us out to build a fresh team each week. Hopefully that can see us to the final.

"PNG have improved so much. At the last World Cup they won no games so to reach the semi-final it's so much in itself.

"But that being said we want to win and win convincingly."

Papua New Guinea head coach Ben Jeffries, speaking to BBC Red Button:

"Hopefully we can capitilise. Australia have their weaknesses so hopefully we can strike on that tonight. But we have our own game and plan.

"If we can isolated certain players we will be alright.

"It's a World Cup semi-final, the first for PNG Orchids. We have nothing to lose. We're here to compete and win. We'll see where we land after 80 minutes.

    "Embrace it."

Australia played all three of their pool matches at York, with crowds at just over 3,000 at the 8,000-seater stadium.

Looks like we've got a boost on that today, helped no doubt by England playing here later.

Papua New Guinea captain Elsie Albert, speaking on BBC Red Button:

"Most of the girls are still learning their position and trade.

"Australia is a side everybody wants to beat. They are the team to beat. We will have to complete the set and play the best we can.

"They have a good number of players who did not play in the last game who have a chance to play today. We know who we are targeting and we will put to practice what we have worked on in training."

This is the first full women's Test between Australia and Papua New Guinea, although they have previously met three times in all internationals.

Australia have won all three, most recently a 64-6 victory in September.

Australia head coach Brad Donald, speaking to BBC Red Button:

"After the New Zealand game we were very fatigued. We got what we wanted but the girls were tired. We had a couple of days off and some injuries so hence the 17 we have tonight.

Qatar could win the men's football World Cup next month on home soil, and arguably that would still not be as big an upset as Papua New Guinea overcoming Australia today.

However, PNG are no minnows. They have won three of their last four Tests and have the highest conversion rate of any team in this competition, completing 76% of their sets.

This should be a very competitive game.

A lot can happen in six years - but one thing that has not occurred is the Australian women's rugby league team losing a match.

Not since defeat to New Zealand in 2016 have Australia come out on the losing side, and they have won their last 11 consecutive Tests. Only twice in that period have they conceded 10 points or more.

Women's Rugby League World Cup: Cook Islands 26-18 France highlights

This is already PNG's best ever showing at a Women's Rugby League World Cup, as they reached the knock-outs for the first time by finishing second in Pool B.

Their closest rivals Canada were impressively dispatched in their opening game, 34-12, before another strong showing in notching 70 unanswered points against debutants Brazil.

A 42-4 defeat to hosts England has brought the islanders back to earth however and left them facing probably the best women's team in the world - but in knock-out rugby, anything is possible.

The Aussies are the reigning champions and have shown their quality in the competition with three wins from three in Pool B.

Unsurprisingly they breezed through their first two games, dispatching Cook Islands and France while scoring 166 points without reply.

However they were given a stern test in the final pool game where they faced New Zealand in a repeat of the last three World Cup finals. A 10-8 victory ensured they progressed as group winners - but has it shown Australia are not so untouchable?

It is VERY foggy in York this evening. The floodlights are working overtime.

Still, a step up from the stormy conditions Australia had to endure in their opening match. That was proper Yorkshire weather.
