The scoreline probably doesn't reflect how good they've been because they've missed their conversions.
Dominant.
Tommy Makinson
Take your woolly hat off to that one on this chilly evening. What a score.
Morgan Knowles set the platform with a ripsnorting run through the Catalans defence which was just about foiled.
Saints eased the ball wide with some slick hands, Lewis Dodd and Jonny Lomax taking the ball to the line, before a cut-out ball for Tommy Makinson sends him in.
Dodd just short with the kick.
St Helens 12-6 Catalans
Morgan Knowles streaks through and Saints are almost to the line.
Catalans struggling to cope here...
St Helens 12-6 Catalans
Goodness knows what I put on the second try post that has prompted so many dislikes.
Unless it's been hijacked by Wiganers?
Anyway, Saints purring now. This is a test of Catalans mettle as we head toward half-time.
They had a brilliant 20 minutes but have been opened up since.
Lewis Dodd
St Helens cutting loose now on the back of the field position and ruckspeed, and it's a beautiful solo effort from Lewis Dodd.
Dodd just popped the kick in, darts through the gap and pops it down.
Saints work the space so well, and the distribution from Morgan Knowles was superb.
This time, Tommy Makinson misses the kick as he pulls it well wide. Jinxed.
St Helens 8-6 Catalans
Lewis Dodd threads and chases his own grubber in behind after a flowing Saints move, and it's gone to James Child in the video ref's box.
St Helens 8-6 Catalans
Saints are stomping downfield now at every ruck, and that ruck-speed is really telling the pace for Catalans.
They've just got a penalty on the back of one such drive from Alex Walmsley.
Saints in roll-you-up mood at the moment.
St Helens 8-6 Catalans
That was Konrad Hurrell at his best. Destructive running, just chugging past people and over people.
Catalans are struggling to make their way out at present, despite bringing the bulk of Sam Kasiano onto the field.

That can put pressure on Lewis Dodd. I'm sure Doddy will start knocking them over, but he'll be asking his team to get them a little bit closer to the sticks so he can get his confidence up.
James Roby
Massive try from James Roby and it all comes from fluid movement down the right for the Saints.
Catalans tried to number up but succulent hands on the left from Jack Welsby and Joe Batchelor release Konrad Hurrell, and after he batters his way down the flank, he slips a cheeky little pass to Roby to scamper in at the corner.
Saints ahead, but Lewis Dodd misses the kick again. Will it be costly?
St Helens 4-6 Catalans
There were only two points between these two at Old Trafford last year, and just one-point between them at Magic Weekend.
You can see how keenly matched they are in this bruiser of an opener.
St Helens 4-6 Catalans
Sione Mata'utia started off as an outside back before stepping into the pack, so you'd like to think that bit of execution was muscle memory from him.
Joe Batchelor has just carved open a big gap in the Catalans defensive line, with a powerful surge.
Saints have the bit between their teeth now.
Tommy Makinson
Yep, it is swinging their way.
It was all about some excellent hands in midfield, Lewis Dodd timing his pass to Sione Mata'utia to perfection.
The former Newcastle man bustles through, draws his man and flings a pass wide to Tommy Makinson, who draws it in and finishes unopposed.
First proper move of note that. Saints-like execution.
Dodd misses the kick.
St Helens 0-6 Catalans
St Helens get to a kick deep in the Catalans half, but the little grubber is taken in.
Saints apply some squeeze and Mitchell Pearce's clearing kick is from his own 10.
Is the pendulum swinging the home side's way?
St Helens 0-6 Catalans
Saints finally get a kick away in a good area, Sam Tomkins allowing it to bounce, but Catalans pouch it.
Tom Davies then splits the line and hares away but Saints make a challenge.
The England winger then knocks on at the play-the-ball and Saints get the ball back.
St Helens 0-6 Catalans
Catalans last tackle play, a kick from Mitchell Pearce, put Saints back on their own line.
However, a couple of quick rucks from Tommy Makinson, Sione Mata'utia and Alex Walmsley get them some front-foot ball.
They've lacked it.
St Helens 0-6 Catalans
Something you don't see everyday. Saints ending their set on their own 30/40, and having to kick through Lewis Dodd on Catalans' terms.
St Helens 0-6 Catalans
We've waited since October for all this to return, and while it's not been the most expansive game so far, it's definitely been explosive.
Catalans are the side in the ascendancy, getting to their last tackle options, but this time Josh Drinkwater's kick is taken on the fly by Jack Welsby and Saints get a quick ruck.
St Helens 0-6 Catalans
Gil Dudson comes off the back fence with the return from the restart and Matty Lees comes shuttling through to smash him for Saints.
The next play sees the next carrier Samisoni Langi get similar treatment.
It's all going off again. Dylan Napa is involved. Mark Percival is in there.
It's properly ignited this. Grudge match fayre.
