    Alan Hunte
Ex-Great Britain winger on BBC Radio Humberside

This is the greatest cup competition in rugby league. This is the game you tune in to.

I’ve been fortunate enough to lift that trophy and there are players in the Hull team who have lifted this trophy, showing they have had success.

It’s a one-off so there's nothing to lose. In the league on a week-to week basis you can go back to the process to fix things, but in this it’s today only.

That gives Hull a chance. They start as underdogs but they’re here and they give themselves a chance.

    Paul WellensImage source, PA Media

You don't dominate the sport as much as St Helens have in recent years without knowing a thing or two about dealing with pressure.

Saints boss Paul Wellens is pleased with his side's recent return to form coming into today's trip to the MKM Stadium.

"One thing that this group has been accustomed to in recent years is playing in do or die situations or playing in knockout situations, whether that's a Grand Final, Challenge Cup final or play-off games," Wellens told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"The players know what it takes to play at this level and under this type of pressure.

"Rugby league is a game that if you take your eye off the ball, it can bite you on the backside pretty quickly.

"We keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard for each other. If we continue to do that then we are confident that we can achieve more success moving forward."

    "Inevitable".

That's how Hull FC boss Tony Smith has branded St Helens' recent return to form following a poor spell earlier in the season.

After beating NRL champions Penrith in February, Saints lost five of their first 10 matches of the season.

They have since won four straight games, including their derby win over Wigan.

"Anybody with any sort of consideration as to how big it was of them to go to Australia for their pre-season and play two games against NRL teams and come back to start our season [knows] it is a big ask for anybody," he told BBC Radio Humberside.

"It was always inevitable that they were going to get back on a roll and on track because that would have taken a lot out of them, that's for sure."
