Former England boss Stuart Lancaster is a prominent figure as Leinster go through their final warm-up routines. Now in his second season as Leinster "senior soach", Lancaster has had a major impact on the double-chasing Dublin province, and has gone a long way to rebuilding his reputation, which took a battering after England's World Cup of 2015.

History is on Leinster's side in Europe. They have won five of the rivals' seven European encounters, including the last four.

Leinster boast the only 100% win record in this season's tournament with Scarlets having lost two pool games on the way to this stage.

It is Scarlets' first last-four appearance in the tournament since 2007, when they lost to Leicester.

Johnny Sexton is the man looking to orchestrate Scarlets' downfall today, captaining Leinster at the Aviva Stadium.

The Irish outfit are also boosted by the return of centre Robbie Henshaw after recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in February.

However, the hosts are without scrum-half Luke McGrath because of an ankle injury while British and Irish Lions flanker Sean O'Brien, who has also had shoulder problems, misses out.

Scarlets haven’t been at this stage of the European Cup since 2007, so no surprise their supporters have travelled to Dublin in their thousands.

On a glorious day at the Aviva, this could be a European clash for the ages.

Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac says his players are well aware of the "massive prize" potentially awaiting the winners of this semi-final.

"We're in the same competitions so we face each other often," he added.

"This is the first clash since that semi-final last year with our top sides out.

"Both sides know there's a massive prize at the end of the day."

  6. Time for a Welsh winner?published at 15:04 British Summer Time 21 April 2018

    Leinster v Scarlets (15:30 BST)

Twenty-two years of European Cup rugby. Eleven different winners. None from Wales.

In fact, you have to go back to the first installment of the competition in 1995-96, in its Heineken Cup days, to find the last team that reached the final.

Cardiff were runners up to Toulouse that season, with the trophy only having been shared between teams from France, Ireland and England since.

Scarlets, in their first semi-final for 11 years, could take a step towards redressing the balance this afternoon.

    Are you not entertained?

Scarlets' fans must have at times this season wondered if they'd accidentally strolled into a Harlem Globetrotters gig, their side nonchalantly tossing the ball around like they were performing for the American show-boaters.

But among enough tricks and flicks to fill a sell-out Globetrotters performance has come some cutting-edge rugby, putting the Welsh outfit on the verge of their first ever European Champions Cup final.

Standing in their way are the formidable Leinster, who amid some grit and grunt can boast a little glitz of their own as they go in search of a first title since 2012.

It promises to be a cracker.
