Quote MessageThey concede 20 points in 18 or 19 minutes. They get there, then they fall off a cliff. It's a haemorrhaging of points. They cannot stop the bleeding. They concede one try, and then another, and then another.

La Rochelle Director of Rugby Ronan O'Gara has also been giving his thoughts to BT Sport:
"The tempo we played at in the first 20 minutes paid off", he said.
"We have a lot of competition at fly-half, but tonight's performance will do [Pierre Popelin's] confidence the world of good.
"We understand what sport at the highest level is - you've got to keep coming back. Yes we lost in the final last year, but we'll come again.
"The cream rises to the top. We might get a difficult draw, but if you want to win the competition, you've got to keep churning out wins."

Quote MessageGlasgow are a Challenge Cup team. They could do quite well in the Challenge Cup. They're never going to win the main trophy. They're a mid-table European team. They don't have the strength and consistency to beat the top European teams.

Glasgow head coach Danny Wilson has been speaking to BT Sport post-match:
"The boys went out second half and scored some nice tries, but ultimately we came up short", he said. "We gave up some soft tries - our own errors fed the opposition.
"Breakdown was an issue for us, our choice of tackles was poor - we went high against a big team and gave them momentum.
"We'll see what happens tomorrow and see what that means going forward."

Quote MessageIf you saw the score, you might think 'oh, that was close.' It wasn't close at all. If it was twenty points, it still wouldn't have been a fair reflection on La Rochelle's superiority. The two tries at the end are nice moments for Ollie Smith, but they are meaningless in the context of the game.

Quote MessageLa Rochelle's defence in the second-half was just as good as their attack in the first half. It was suffocating. Glasgow fell into traps and La Rochelle hoovered up the scraps, put the pressure on, won penalties and turnovers and were well worth their victory.
Glasgow 30-38 La Rochelle
That is the last action at Scotstoun.
A scoreline that flatters Glasgow somewhat.
Ollie Smith
A consolation score for Glasgow, and a second for Ollie Smith.
The ball was ripped off George Turner in the tackle, but fell to Ollie Smith who scores under the posts.
Duncan Weir adds the conversion.
Ihaia West
La Rochelle knock over another penalty, this time via the boot of Ihaia West.

Quote MessageYou really shouldn't be flinging the ball away in celebration when you're chasing a couple of tries! He'll learn that as he gets older.
Ollie Smith
And they make that advantage count!
Ollie Smith's first action is to coast under the posts.
Duncan Weir adds the extras, but it's too little, too late for Glasgow.
Glasgow 16-35 La Rochelle
With the penalty count racking up, Dillan Leyds joins his captain in the bin.
Glasgow will have a two man advantage in the backs when the ball comes back from this scrum...
Glasgow 16-35 La Rochelle
Glasgow kick yet another penalty into the corner.
La Rochelle are down to 14 men after Gregory Alldritt was sin-binned, but time is quickly running out for the Warriors.

Quote MessageIt might be a blessing. You win and get eighth place, you've got two games against Leicester - home and away. Go to the Challenge Cup, Glasgow could do well and go to the quarter-finals, semi-finals.
Glasgow 16-35 La Rochelle
Or is it? Glasgow get a huge nudge on at the scrum and win a penalty - they go for another scrum.
Glasgow 16-35 La Rochelle
Glasgow knock-on, La Rochelle have a scrum and the chance is gone.
Glasgow 16-35 La Rochelle
Glasgow win a penalty, and all of a sudden find themselves inside La Rochelle's 22.
It's now or never for the home side...

Quote MessageThis is the third penalty in succession that La Rochelle have opted to kick now. They're 35-16 up, they're 40 metres out. Most times you'd see that go to touch but they're maybe just looking to take the game away from Glasgow and eat up time.
Glasgow 16-35 La Rochelle
On this occasion the kick at goal sails just wide - it'll be little consolation to the Scotstoun crowd.
