    FT: Edinburgh 29-26 Zebre

That's all from us this evening.

A disappointing start to Glasgow's time in South Africa, before Edinburgh scraped past Zebre.

There's more Scottish rugby tomorrow as Scotland Women take on Italy in the Six Nations - see you then!

  2. 'Zebre deserved to win' - Blairpublished at 22:03 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

Edinburgh head coach Mike Blair has been giving his thoughts to BBC Radio Scotland:

"I thought Zebre were excellent", he said. "They shifted the ball, put us under a lot of pressure, and probably deserved to win the game.

"There was an air of overconfidence maybe coming into this, and looking ahead to coming games in Europe and against Glasgow. I thought we were off it today, and it wasn't great, but the evening could have been far worse.

"We've come away with five points, we're in the top eight spots and have the potential to get top four. All is not lost, but we have to get better.

"There was some excellent management of the game, which allowed us to win it.

[Looking ahead to Ulster]: "The crowd will really get behind us, and we'll put on a worthy performance."

The character and resilience that Edinburgh showed - they played over 40 minutes with ten men. How they got on with it is really significant. It's not all flash, champagne rugby that this side's about - there's a real solid spine to it as well.

Zebre are hammering on the door, and despite a heroic defensive effort from the hosts, they crash over.

The drama isn't over! As Timothy O'Malley starts his run-up the ball comes off the tee - he has to react incredibly quickly to pick the ball up and drop-kick an improvised conversion.

Hearts in mouths in the capital!

Zebre should really have scored, but the away side make a mess of things, attempting an ambitious offload when a simple pop pass would have sufficed.

Admittedly, Jaco van der Walt did superbly to scramble back and force the error.

    Zebre are still fighting.

They work their way into Edinburgh territory, but Henry Pyrgos flies out of the line and forces an error.

High risk from the Edinburgh skipper, but it comes off.

Fine, fine margins. Mark Bennett is in control here, but had just one finger on the ball when it was grounded.

Phew... The referee says that there was at least one finger in contact with the ball upon grounding!

Zebre coughed up possession from the initial scrum, Mark Bennett made Antonio Rizzi look a bit silly, but then Erich Conje almost forced the Edinburgh centre to lose control of the ball.

Bennett will have had his heart in his mouth there.

Ben Muncaster misjudges a high box-kick from Zebre replacement Chris Cook, and knocks-on.

Edinburgh have minimised Zebre's opportunities since the red card, but a centre-field scrum provides the visitors with a good platform.
