Thanks for joining us on a day when history was made with Ulster playing at a GAA venue for the first time.

The match itself may not have quite lived up to the occasion but it was a more-than-worthwhile run-out for both Ulster and Glasgow Warriors.

Join us again in a few hours for that huge Ireland v Scotland World Cup encounter.

There are still improvements to be made.

Do i think they (Ulster) will win anything this year? my heart says yes but i don't think they will.

There is that disparity between the large number of players who left last season like myself and the few that have been brought in such as Ewers and Kitshoff.

  3. Messy enough but glad to get the win - Ewerspublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 7 October 2023

    FT: Ulster 19-14 Glasgow

    Man-of-the-match Dave Ewers:

It was a messy enough game but good to get a win. It was our first time playing here and it was awesome to get our home support. It was a frustrating match and Glasgow made things difficult for us but pleased to get the win. We are focusing on what we can bring as a group. We want to play an exciting brand of rugby.

The referee's whistle goes and that's full-time in Cavan.

Ulster hold on after a scrappy second-half.

First-half tries from man-of-the-match Dave Ewers, James Hume and Tom Stewart were enough to see the Ulstermen over the line.

The real winner today was the province as a whole as rugby and the GAA joined forces.

For Ulster, they will now look forward to their URC opener away to Zebre in two weeks' time.

More than a passing resemblance between newcomer Cameron Doak and South African Steven Kitshoff who will be arriving at the Kingspan after the World Cup.

If the local man is half as good as his international counterpart, Ulster will be well stocked on the loosehead side of the front row.

The changes for both sides have really had an impact on the fluidity of the game.

Good work by the Glasgow pack.

Oli Kebble getting in with the turnover penalty.

Weir kicks to the corner, but Ulster nab the line-out. This one could still go either way

Cameron Doak has come on as sub for Ulster - brother of scrum-half Nathan.

Dad Neil will be looking on proudly.

It's all change in the Ulster ranks with six substitutes arriving on the field.

The impressive Tom Stewart and Dave Ewers are two of those leaving.

A nightmare for commentators as Ulster have decided to go with numberless sub tops today.

    Thanks guys!

Another missed opportunity as Ulster get pinged for holding on just five metres out from the Warriors' line.

Inventive play but a lack of penetration.

Glasgow with some nice use of the choke tackle which has slowed down Ulster's attack.

Ulster seem keen to inject some more pace into the game in this second-half but the handling errors are costing them. This time Robert Baloucoune can't hold on to a Will Addison pass out wide

    Greg Hiddleston (43 mins)

Greg Hiddleston rumbles over from close range.

Some indecisiveness from Robert Baloucoune led to that and Dan McFarland won't be happy.

Weir with no mistake from the tee to make it a seven-pointer.

    Ulster knock-on and that's half-time.

Entertaining first half with both sides coming to play. The home side have dominated the majority of play but will feel they left too many points out on the pitch.

Changes expected for both sides in the second period.

  20. 'We'd like to see more free-flowing rugby'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 7 October 2023

    Tony McWhirter
    1999 Ulster European Cup winner

There probably hasn't been as much free-flowing rugby as we would have hoped for. Ulster's maul looks as strong as ever but I think the crowd would like to see a bit more open rugby in the second half.
