Moments after she goes down in the box claiming a penalty after being barged over by Fatou Coulibaly, Kirsty Howat has a great chance to bring City level on the night.

But after a pin-point delivery from Hayley Lauder, the striker can only direct her volley straight at Somatio goalkeeper Anna James-Buhigas, who is off her line quickly to beat it away.

That's the closest City have come so far. Sam Kerr picks up a loose ball 30 yards out, takes a step forward and unleashes a powerful right-foot strike that Somatio goalkeeper Anna James-Buhigas tips onto the top of the crossbar and over.

As in the first half, City are swiftly into their stride and create a chance barely a minute in, but Hayley Lauder loses her balance as her left-foot effort on the run goes over the bar.

It's has been an intriguing first 45 minutes. Somatio Barcelona have another level to go up you feel, but the early goal means they can be a little more patient now.

City are playing OK, but their usual clinical edge has deserted them so far.

Should Somatio get the next goal, it really is anyone's guess who will go through.

Glasgow City have had their fair share of chances, Kirsty Howat, Hayley Lauder and Nicola Docherty all with decent sights of goal before Lara Ivanusa missed that opportunity as the first half drew to a close.

The hosts still hold the advantage in the tie, but Krystyna Freda's early strike for Somatio has left their progress in the balance.

Slovenian international Lara Ivanusa was one of two foreign imports - the other being Lidija Kulis - that City brought in over summer. It was for nights like this when head coach Scott Booth hoped she would make the difference.

Twice though she has passed up gilt-edged chances, failing to connect with the ball when the merest touch would have knocked it over the line.

Are City going to be made to pay for these missed chances?

Another promising attack for City, as Nicola Docherty puts over pin-point cross from the left flank but Lara Ivanusa can't get her feet sorted out in time, and - with her back to goal at the far post - can only hook the ball wide.

The thinking might be that City need to slow things down, take the sting out of the game, and defend a bit more. But attacking football is what they know best.

They score goals for fun domestically, dominating possession each week. They rarely give the opposition chances, never mind concede. Playing a counter-attacking game would be alien to them.

City will keep going forward and hope sooner rather than later they can get the goal that restores the two-goal cushion in the tie.

Leanne Crichton's driving run is brought to a halt just short of the Somatio area, giving City a free-kick in a promising central position. But another chance goes begging as Abbi Grant can't keep her free-kick down.

A momentary pause in the action as Abbi Grant receives some treatment after a heavy challenge from Somatio's Cristiano Solomou, who earns herself a yellow card.

A nervous moment for Victoria Zampa in the Somatio defence, as she almost turns Hayley Lauder's left-wing cross past her own keeper.

Krystyna Freda's goal separates the sides as we approach the half-hour mark at Petershill Park.

Better from City, but still no end product thus far. Hayley Lauder creates an opportunity for herself on the edge of the box, but her left-foot volley drifts wide of the left-hand post.

It has the makings already of being a great game of football. City are pressing but the visitors are so dangerous on the counter - the one up front changing to a front four in an instant.

City handled it in the first leg, but they are missing the organisational skills of absent captain Leanne Ross. You fancy Somatio to get a second goal with the chances they are getting.
