St Mirren goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky plays today despite a horrible week which started with the death of his best friend Josef Sural, who was killed when his team bus crashed last Sunday in Turkey. Oran Kearney says St Mirren were just keen to do right by their number one.

“It’s been a tough week for him," said Kearney. "He heads across in the morning to the Czech Republic and we will give him as much time as he needs this week. I was prepared to give him time this week as well, he was adamant he didn’t want that and as much as we have a lot at stake at the moment sometimes there are bigger fish to fry as well.

"And as much as it possibly could have hurt us today if it had needed to be done we would have done that because Vaclav, not only is he a super keeper he’s a really good person and you would always do right by him and he’s made the choice he wants to stay and play today.”

  8. 'We got told what team we couldn't play... then got bulleted'published at 14:59 British Summer Time 4 May 2019

    Morton v Dundee United (15:00)

Former Morton assistant manager Peter Houston tells Sportsound about his abrupt departure: "Over the last week Jonatan has been trying to have a meeting with the chairman because a lot of players are out of contract.

"One of the things managers have to do is speak to players who are staying or leaving. When the meeting was always put to the back burner because the chairman was busy, you start to think why?

"Last night Jonatan phoned me and said the chairman had just phoned him and wasn't very clear what they were talking about, but one thing he did mention was that we couldn't play a certain player.

"This certain player would reach it (amount of games to trigger a new deal) today and probably has been our best player over the last three or four games."

He added: "The chairman came into see us nearer one and the first thing he did was apologise we couldn't play this player which didn't go down well.

"Then in the same breath he told us that because of cost-cutting they wouldn't be renewing the clause in our contracts.

"In one breath you are being told what team you can't play, and in the other you are getting bulleted anyway."

    Pyramid Play-off semi-final, second leg

Cove Rangers will start strong favourites to clinch a Pyramid Play-off final meeting with Berwick Rangers as they host East Kilbride.

The Highland League champions won the first leg 2-1 away to their Lowland League counterparts last weekend.

  10. Peterhead or Clyde for title?published at 14:55 British Summer Time 4 May 2019

    Scottish League Two

Peterhead were seconds away from clinching the League Two title and automatic promotion before Stirling Albion's late equaliser last weekend.

But Jim McInally's side remain in pole position, two points ahead of Clyde ahead of today's final games.

It was former Clyde striker Peter MacDonald's late goal that handed the Bully Wee another chance, but even if they record a fourth straight win - and eighth win in nine outings - away to Cowdenbeath, they will still need things to go their way at Hampden Park.

The national stadium is where Queen's Park host Peterhead, who would still win the title with a draw unless Clyde win by five goals.

  12. Brechin or Stenny for the drop?published at 14:52 British Summer Time 4 May 2019

    Scottish League One

With Arbroath having wrapped up the title and three sides having clinched promotion play-off places, the focus in League One is at the foot of the table, where Brechin City, a point behind at the foot of the table, host second-bottom Stenhousemuir.

One of those sides will be automatically dropping to League Two and the other will have a second chance in play-offs against three sides from the division below.

    Motherwell v St Mirren (15:00)

    Jonathan Sutherland
BBC Sport Scotland at Fir Park

Another Motherwell match, another chance to marvel at midfielder David Turnbull. He’s earned rave reviews and has signed a new two-years contract at Fir Park this season. But will he be here next term? That’s the question I asked Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson pre-match.

“We are a club that sells players," he said. "I would love to keep hold of him, I think if someone comes in with the right money I think everyone knows every player at Motherwell is for sale, unfortunately for me. But I live in the real world and that’s how it is.”

  19. Four battle against droppublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 4 May 2019

    Scottish Championship

Falkirk will be playing in the third tier of Scottish football for the first time since 1980 if they fail to beat Ross County in the first game since the Dingwall side secured the Championship title and promotion.

If the Bairns take three points and Alloa Athletic fail to take at least a point away to Ayr United, it will be their neighbours going down.

Indeed, Falkirk, Alloa, Queen of the South and Partick Thistle could all end up in second-bottom spot and face play-offs involving three sides from League One.

Queens, who are above Alloa on goal difference, are at home to Thistle, who are two points above the other two.

  20. Dundee hope trend beats formpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 4 May 2019

    Dundee v Hamilton Academical (15:00)

Dundee must avoid a 10th consecutive defeat when they host Hamilton Academical or they will be consigned to automatic relegation from the Premiership.

But a win would move them to within six points of their visitors with two games remaining - and with a better goal difference.

Even a draw might not be enough for Jim McIntyre's men as they will still go down if second-bottom St Mirren take at least a point away to Motherwell.

Accies, who need a point to be safe from automatic relegation, arrive without a win themselves in five outings and are still only two points ahead of the Buddies despite three straight draws.

The promising statistic for Dundee is that they have not lost in five meetings with today's visitors, including three matches this season - winning the first two then drawing in Hamilton back in February.

Indeed, McIntyre has only lost one of his last 11 meetings with Hamilton as a manager.
