Well that's all for tonight. It was over much earlier than we expected, a thumping left hook to the liver inside the first round enough to send Apinun Khongsong to the canvas, and Scotland's Josh Taylor keeps a hold of his IBF and WBA light-welterweight belts and takes his professional record to 17 wins in 17 fights.

His next fight will likely be against WBO and WBC champion Jose Ramirez, with Taylor saying after the win over Khongsong he wants the fight now but is willing to wait until fans are allowed back to watch.

I want that fight now, I feel I've got the beating of him. I've never ducked anyone, but to be honest I would rather wait until the fans are back, a fight of that magnitude would be better in front of a crowd."

Josh Taylor speaking on BT Sport: "I felt it [the punch] sinking in straight away. I had watched videos of him - he swings on the break, on the clinch, so I saw that coming. So I pressed in against him, pushed him against the ropes, and I hit him with the left hook which I felt sinking right in.

"I didn't know it had hurt him to that extent until I saw him on the floor."

Apinun Khongsong started in decent shape, but as soon as he took one meaningful blow he crumbled in a heap.

No boxer turns their nose up at an easy night’s work, but Josh Taylor and Ben Davison have learned little from this tonight.

Josh Taylor speaking on BT Sport says: "He [Khongsong] was the heaviest puncher I have ever been in with. I could feel the weight of his power. That switched me on to take my time and be patient.

"It was a great shot but I'd like to have shown what we've been working on in the gym. But you don't get paid overtime. I can go and get a pint and a pizza."

Speaking on BT Sport, former heavyweight champion David Haye says: "Khongsong started off as if he was going to be a real problem. I thought he was going to ask a lot of questions. But then he got hit by a body shot. It didn't seem that hard. It seems a strange way for him to go out. It's a strange reaction I haven't seen before."

Apinun Khongsong is thankfully back on his feet after being down for a long time in very obvious distress.

But he is now being taken back to the dressing room on a stretcher.

Well that was quick work from Josh Taylor. It looked like he was happy to be patient, with little happening in the first round. But he manages to get Khongsong to the ropes, sends a left into the ribs, and Khongsong goes down.And the Thai fighter is still down receiving treatment.

Speaking on BT Sport, former heavyweight champion David Haye says: "I believe the only person who can ask the true question of him is Jose Ramirez.

"It evens it out. It works in Khongsong favour but I just think Josh is too slick, too fast and too good."

Thailand's Apinum Khongsong, 24, begins his walk to the ring. But who is he?

He has never boxed outside of Asia before, but has 16 wins and no defeats. The 25-year-old has won his last six fights by knockout or technical knockout.

Taylor says he will not be taking him lightly.

"It is dangerous, especially if I switch off and think it's going to be a walkover," Taylor said. "It's 100% not, it only takes one punch in boxing and you've seen it happen in recent history.

"It's his big chance to really change his life - not only to become world champion, but unified world champion, so it's a massive opportunity for him.

"But I've got my eyes firmly on the prize, I'm not thinking about the next fight. It's all about Saturday, it's about getting the job done and getting it done well."

This is Taylor's first fight since October last year, when he beat Regis Prograis by majority decision. Taylor lifted the Muhammad Ali Trophy as the winner of the 2018-19 World Boxing Super Series – light-welterweight division along with the vacant Ring magazine title.

Undefeated in 16 fights, he has won the cast majority of his fights by knockout, and is undoubtedly Scotland's current leading light on the boxing scene.

Although he hasn't been in the ring in the last 11 months, he has been busy. He has a new trainer - Ben Davison - perhaps best known for training Tyson Fury.

He has also switched promoters, linking up with Bob Arum and Top Rank inc, who have been behind Manny Pacquaio's success and currently have the likes of Terence Crawford and the aforementioned Fury on their books.
