But before that, we'll be back tomorrow with live text commentary of the women's final between China's Li Na and Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova.

Li is the favourite, the 2011 French Open champion who is playing in her third final in Melbourne. In contrast, Cibulkova is the first Slovakian woman to play in a major final.

You can watch the action live on BBC Two from 0825 GMT. Until then, it's good morning from me.

"The difference between Federer now and the Federer from a few years ago is that when he starts making errors he makes them in groups. He makes two or three in a row and against Nadal you just can't do that."

On Sunday's final against Stanislas Wawrinka, which will be live on BBC Two, Nadal said: "I have a tough opponent in front [of me]. Wawrinka is playing amazing, he should come to this final with big confidence.

"I never thought about having 13 Grand Slams so I never thought about having 14. The one thing I can swear is that I'm going to try my best. I need to keep playing great. His serve is huge, and he's hitting the ball really hard. I need to play aggressive and play the same way I played tonight."

Nadal strolls over to have a chat to interviewer Jim Courier. "First of all playing with Roger is a special feeling," said the Spaniard. "He's probably the opponent when I go on court I get emotional feelings.

"We've played a lot of times for important matches. He's a great champion and it's a great honour to be in the same era like him."

"Not a classic by their standards perhaps but what a wonderful contest to see every time they take to the court against each other. Nadal is formidable and he goes in against Stan Wawrinka as a heavy favourite as he's never lost to him."

Federer wastes little time in packing up his things and heading off court to applause from the crowd. The former world number one has had a decent tournament, beating Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, but his hoodoo against Nadal in Grand Slams remains.

More break points for Nadal as Federer looks a broken man. The Spaniard takes the first of two as Federer sticks a backhand volley in the net. The Australian Open final beckons for Nadal.
